Can you copy and paste the text including the configuration link at the bottom, we can’t do much with an image.Hi all
I want a build for 4k video editing. Is the following suitable? Anything you would change ?
Thanks for your help

Yes, on board sound these days is superb, give it a try first. If you’re looking for hifi quality sound then a DAC would be better than a soundcard. The soundcards on PCS are specifically gaming soundcards and only really used for very niche gaming setups.I suppose I chose a soundcard because historically onboard sound hasn't been that good. Do you think it is on the Gigabyte board?
Unfortunately this is the way things are heading, DVD / Blu ray is now considered legacy and a niche requirement so very few cases support internal drives anymore, but the USB ones are excellent and if you don’t use it a lot perhaps an external drive may be a better solution anyway.I chose the case because I am inclined to have a DVD writer but the only other alternative, the Corsair 750D, seems a bit of a monster ! I don't use the DVD writer very often so maybe I could get the Fractal Case and an external writer?
I’d suggest starting out with 64Gb which is still masses and see how you get on.Point taken re RAM - I wasn't too sure if it would add much benefit having that much - presumably not.
The drives you’ve selected are pro drives normally used in always on datacenter applications, they’re incredibly resilient drives. Rather than RAID, check out a NAS drive (cost a bit but for future proofing and reliability they can’t be beat), they’re just like having your own file server and you transfer over the network and can access them from anywhere in the world. It is just like having your own private cloud server. For data redundancy, convenience, speed and futureproofing they are a very worthwhile investment.I guess the idea of a 2nd HDD was if one drive failed - I had that happen on my existing PC and was glad I had a mirrored drive available. I do have an external drive fo back up but it's only for library stuff rather than progs etc.
The Noctuas are incredible coolers, certainly the best available air coolers.Do you think the Noctura is suffcient cooling. I see lots of pros and cons on air over water etc...so don't really know what is best. What is your opinion?
For a NAS, you can pick up ready configured ones from places like amazon, but they're really micro PC's and different specs are used for different applications.Hi - Thanks so much for your comments they have been very useful.
Not quite into DAC....yet ! But worth considering for the furutre.
Do you know where I could read more about how a NAS works / how to set it up etc?
There wouldn't be any benefit to install the programs to another drive, that would actually reduce performance, it's best to install all programs to the C drive.Hi, thanks for this info - most useful, I will enjoy reading them later.
One last question....in my spec I have an SSD for OS and progs and a larger HDD for storage, docs / photos / videos etc.... Would there be any benefit in getting a secondary SSD purely used for video editing - i.e. Video Editing Programmes / rendering / storage etc....say 1 TB ?
Thanks
Pleasure, that’s a monster build, will last a long long timeThanks, and thanks for all your advice.
