Well, I missed all the above games but then I kind of missed Christmas too, recovering from that weird flu business etc.

So, belatedly a merry Christmas to you all, and I pray you are all well, safe and gorged to the eyeballs with goodness and goodies.

I'm kind of bummed over missing Death Stranding most of all, though that whole what edition is it really biz was weird. It's still on my Steam wishlist though, somewhere between 5 and 10 (yes, I order it from most wanted down etc)

I did buy and try one game from a series that'd been good. Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail but got a refund as it's not a spot on Ultimate General: Civil War (which racked up over 1000 hours, 2 campaigns for each of the 2 sides and many battles between) So I have a ton of habitual impulse credit on Steam and despite the wishlist no idea what to go for. Recommendations would be well received.

Just checked Epic, Mortal Shell is the freebie rn. Looks good but also too Souls-y for me.
So sorry to hear that but very glad you're feeling better. It knocked out so many of my colleagues who went to the Christmas party, luckily I couldn't make it.

Glad you're on the road to recovery.

The Final Fantasy 7 remake is what I would recommend weather you're a fan or not

Thanks. Must admit FF7 remake is a bit tempting. I don't usually replay story games but this one is kind of unique in that it's been close on a quarter century since I played it 😱🤯😬

Tell you what though, wonder and shock at how the heck did I make it this far aside, I would totally go for a full modern remake of FF6. I was never interested again after FF7 tbh nor alike things... but within that genre/culture of games, proper good remakes of The World Ends With You and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor would be absolute cases of 'take my money' (subtitle: damn you devs for taking over next year)

The other one that I hadn't heard of until it's being promoted again with the remaster is Crisis Core which is a Final Fantasy 7 prequel, they've just remastered it and it does look really good.

Hi guys, here's the prediction for tomorrow's Epic giveaway if anyone's interested/wants to plan purchases, I'll put it in spoilers for those who want the surprise! -

Looks like tomorrow's Epic is also in the Dishonoured franchise, according to this Reddit thread. Not sure which one/ones(?) it will be, although a good few people think it could be Dishonoured: Death of the Outsider based on the colour scheme of the wrapping.
Close, but they guessed wrong. It’s actually Dishonored: Definitive Edition. You get the base game and all four bits of DLC. Which I think we’d all agree is better than having a cocktail stick dipped in lemon juice and then jabbed into your eyeball.

Funny this but I have tried it... kind of.

As part of the testing for when I had laser eye surgery back in 2007. It was very much needed as I'd first had specs when I was 8 but by 17 it was permanent for all uses and my vision just kept going downhill after, I couldn't handle contacts either and it limited so much in life. By 30 I was about blind should I lose my by then chunky specs, which was terrifying even as an idea, so I made the jump.
And so the testing... In order to test my eye response and fitness for the surgery, they put some drops in my eye that numbed it but were also astringent to start with (that's the lemon juice) Then they poked my eyeball with a pokey stick (thankfully blunt but still, was quite an aggressive poke...) which had a weird distortion effect, like if you look through sheet perspex while bending it.

Anyway, I'll stop there as the surgery itself, while an interesting process, has turned stomachs when I've described it so...

All well though. On the ride home an hour later I noticed a significant improvement to my non specs vision, even being at night with shades on. I could read oncoming road signs and the license plates of cars a couple of lengths ahead where previously I couldn't even read a book up close without specs. Huge wow. At the 3 day checkup I was back near 20/20, and by the 2 week checkup better than that (could read every line on the board so easily they tested me with even smaller text) Only now, 15 years later is it starting to naturally decline again (as they said it would) but if it really went downhill I'd do it again, and have a guarantee for that. Complete game and life changer anyway, the healing process and very minor soon to fade side effects were no big deal against having built in eagle sniper vision. It was honestly like having a super power.

Anyway, thanks for attending another of my Ted talks 🤪
