Hi guys, have decided to go for a desktop rather than the laptop i posted earlier. How's this spec looking? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. PC will be used for some gaming (San andreas multiplayer, sims 3, maybe a little call of duty etc) and some premiere elements video editing (not often)

Change the hard drive to a WD Caviar Black one (better performance with a 64Mb Cache)
Swap your current PSU for the 650W Corsair
And add silver warranty since it's only £5 more

And that should be a pretty decent build

Also if you're gaming on a regular 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 monitor you will not need that 2GB of memory, the 1GB version will be more than ample.

made the changes recommended above, have stuck with the 2gb as i'm looking to upgrade monitor(s) at some point. Any other suggestions before i take the plunge? How is the case? Any recommendations of an alternative around the same price?

if you can spend a bit more on a case then go for it, although it depends what you like the look of, the next one up from the maelstrom for me would be the CM690 MKII or the dragon rider, which has great cooling although i personally think it looks horrible, the next one up for me is then the Antec 900, then the phantom, then the sniper (the best) and the HAF-X is alright i guess

looks good, go for a caviar black drive and not green. you wouldnt really want a green drive as your boot since its the only drive you chose.

apart from that, specs are good.

Even 2560x1600 wouldnt really max out that RAM simply because the actual speed of the bus would slow you down way before you max out the vRAM on that card. Infact the actual complexity of the game would probably be more taxing on the GPU architecture itself before the vRAM gets maxed out :)

Yep, thursday hopefully. Although i'm selling something on ebay which if it goes for what it should i will have an extra couple of hundred to spend which would be nice. Have switched the 2gb 560 with the 1.25gb 570.

Blown away by everyone's help here; i've missed the PC community!
