PCSpecialist Cheeky 3D manoeuvre

Wow, how naughty of PCS!

So there I was seeing that there's a lovely new 3D 17" laptop available, when suddenly I realise how cheeky they've gone and been!

If I were to get a new laptop, it would have to be 17" and it would have to have the very best graphics card in it, i.e. the 485m. Now all of a sudden I'm forced to pay for 3D vision as well, if I want this!

PCS does offer the 17" laptop without 3D, but they make you sacrifice the 485m for a 6970 or 470m. Now I'm all confused about which I would choose, were I to buy one.

Of course this is hypothetical; I'm not planning on buying a new machine for another year! And I fully expect PCS to bring out a Clevo x7200 equivalent by then!!

By the way none of that was a question- more of a rant, so nobody has to answer :)

Hello,

Its not a planned manouvre. The reason is the 17" vortex with gtx 485m is out of stock. The next ones to land will have gtx 580m. Simples.

Oh no! That throws a massive spanner in the works....

I was just about to put in an order for the Vortex II 15.6" with the 6970M as price/value its better then the 485M but if the 580M is going to be released soon perhaps I should hold out..... especially if it is coupled with Optimus tech and a price that would stay inline with the other 500 series cards (obviously more then the 560M but not as much as the 485M).

Then there is a question of if PCS will be able to pack it into a 15.6" case?

I thought that according to other forums the 580 is supposed to surpass the 485. I guess nobody really knows.
