Photo edit spec re-jig with questions

Hey specialists in October i posted a thread relating to a custom photo edit PC. i had a great result with replies and have decided upon to invest in one in about a week or so.

The only questions i have are:
1. would i or my machine benefit from a black or green SSD? I would like to save on energy bills and noise but what would the experts recommend? my current pc 'makes a racket' when trying to watch a movie in peace.
2. Firewire port, i dont even know if i need or use it as i have no idea what it is.

I need a desktop that will be able to handle webdesign, photoshop, illustrator and dreamweaver and possibly the odd video edit (once i am competent in the above). I watch lots of movies and i am not a gamer but like the system to be future proof.
I use my 32" LG TV (1366x768) as a monitor. I also have a maxtor 500gb external hard drive.

Here is my re-edited spec:

Great spec you've put together there. In answer to your questions:

1. SSD's are very fast and will use much less energy than standard hard drive (5W as opposed to 25W), so over the course of a year this will save you some money. They're also very fast and very quiet.

2. Firewire is most commonly used for camcorders, external hard drives, and networking. Firewire is faster than USB 2.0 over sustained throughput. A firewire card is only required if you currently use a firewire device, or you plan to purchase a device that requires firewire in the coming future.

Thankyou which would you suggest BLACK or GREEN SSD

Caviar Black = Faster, louder, uses more power
Caviar Green = Slower, quieter, uses less power

That was straight to the point i like it, but what would you personally recommend?

like a div i got confused for the past hour or so over SSD and green and black and HDD.
So, SSD is a version of a HDD except no moving parts?
So HDDs are then better off used as storage devices on a system that uses a SSD as a main drive
Green and Black are HDD's only available in WesternDigital.

I would therefore use the 60gb SSD for windows 7, photoshop, illustrator ect
The 1 TB HDD would be used for random docs, files, pics ect
My current external 500 gb HDD can also be used as a backup for the random docs, files, pics ect mentioned in the 1 TB HDD in addition to downloads, movies and music

Does that sound plausible? or would there be a better way to sort this out?

After all that would you recommend a 1 TB black or green HDD?

really appreciate the help sorry for the trouble

SSD's make a world of difference in terms of loading times, they're almost silent while using less power but they're very expensive. Yes HDD's are generally better used for general file storage with the SSD in the first slot for the operating system and your main application files. Yes it sounds good, with my order I just went with a Caviar green because my current HDD has 4mb of cache and I never find myself waiting around for anything so it should be fast enough for me :)
