Gateway 970 ? You mean Gigabyte I presume.

I think the problem is that you haven't connected power to the GPU properly, for the 8 pin slot you need to get an 8 pin connector through all the slots. Can't just connect 6 and leave 2 on the side empty.

Don't know why you're referring to an EVGA manual.

I have a G1 card, it should look like this.

Hi, as Fantana has already pointed out you still need to plug the 2 pin part to the GPU.

If you look at your first picture the left side 8 pin slot you have only connected the 6 pin part you need to plug the extra 2 pin part that is left out.

When you say you can't add the extra 2 pin part in is that because you are trying to do it while the 6 pin block of the left side connector is still plugged in ? if so you need to remove the left 6 pin and put the extra 2 pin together before you plug the whole 8 in together and make sure the 2 pin is the correct way round.

I'm always going have 2 pins left out and it needs them to complete circuit I guess. I'm not sure. I read all codes I got and none of them are related to this. But I was using pc moments to swap gpu.

Right the GPU needs an 8 pin and a 6 pin plugging into it, the 2 power leads you have are both 8 pin but they both have the option to take a 2 pin off to make them a 6 pin which is what you have done to both of them and then you have plugged only the 6 pin portion of both into the GPU, so what you need to do is unplug the left 6 pin portion from your GPU and clip the 2 pin part onto the side of the 6 pin part making it an 8 pin and then plug the whole block of 8 pins into the 8 pin slot on the GPU.
