Okay

I've got my spec and I've got my money and i really want to buy from PC Specialist.

I love the forum and have been following it avidly whilst saving and it has really helped me choose my spec BUT it also gives you an idea of complaints and PCs with problems.

I'm well aware that all manufacturers will have this problem and that PCS are very brave/confident in their products to have an open forum like this.

Is it possible to say what percentage of PCs have a problem identified within the first few months of delivery. I appreciate you may not want to release thisd information but I thought I would ask anyway

many thanks

Mick

Fact of life #24

Thems what complains always tell you.

Thems whats is happy are too busy playin to tell you!

(ok, may have stretched that one a little!)

And as I am sure a mod pointed out a week or so ago when someone had a similar question...only a small percentage of PCS customers even use the forum :D

Go check the forums of other companies and come back with some learnings :D (see what i did there?!)

It's a personal choice i think, you've got to compare the spec of the machine to other retailers, the reputation of said retailers and the on going support you will get.

personally i'm just about to make my second investment with PCS, a laptop for my folks.

i did have a very minor issue with my desktop pc about a week after delivery, a fan going at full pelt. quick post in the forum and a bios setting change later all sorted, so no need call support. Fab.

remember that very few people will probably post how good their experience of ordering/setup was. however nearly everyone who has a problem will vent about it and in those few circumstances PCS mods and staff go above and beyond in trying to sort it out.

good luck!

Its the risk you take with buying anything over the internet. Even buying from well known brands/companies is no guarantee you won't get any problems sooner or later. What makes the difference is the after sales support and judging by the posts on this forum it is second to none and PCS will do what they can.

Thanks for all your replies but it would still be nice to know some sort of rough percentage - do 75% or more of the PCs arrive at their destination in working order? Is that close?

This is what I wrote in another thread last week

"...I will add a positive and totally up-to-date PCS experience for you to consider.

Having received the new machine on Monday last week, it wasn't until the weekend that I tried out the built-in card reader. This was okay on CF cards but not SD. Emailed and obtained an RMA number this Monday and DHL delivered the replacement yesterday (Wednesday) and picked up the faulty unit at the same time (return bag was in the delivery bag along with a label). New card reader all okay.

This is seriously good support and after-sales service in anybodies book. Yes? ..."

Whilst as users, the statistics you are requesting are not available to us, it is the ability of PCs (or any other supplier) to respond quickly and fully to difficulties that sets the really good ones from the rest.

Regards: Anthony.

Toonarama,
If only 75% of pcs arrvied at their destination in fully working order then we wouldnt be in business. The percentage that have a fault on receipt is very low probably 2-3%. This can be due to rough transits where a memory module has come loose for example to straightforward component failures. There is always going to be an inherent failure rate on components as it is impossible to get to 100% fault free. The precentage that have a fault during the lifetime of the waranty is probably 6-7%. This encompasses all issues of component failure where pc's are returned to us and where we send components out to the customer, such as a dvd rw drive for example.

Thank you very much - that is exactly what I needed to make me feel comfortable about buying from PCS.

My order will be on it's way this week.

Good to see you've made your decision. Thought I'd throw in my two penneth worth anyway. I bought from PCS on the strength of a recommendation on a football forum! So there are plenty out there that are aware of just how good this company is. I've nothing but praise for them from start to finish. I'm sure you'll be very pleased with the decision you've made. Enjoy.
