We’d need to know a few things in order to advise appropriately...

What’s the max budget for the system? What would you be using it for, gaming, streaming, editing etc? And what monitor would you be pairing with it? Make and model or resolution and refresh rate would be helpful info. Ta 👍

@AgentCooper I am using Asus ROG Strix 27'' 4k 144Hz HDR model XG27UQ My budget for the PC is around £3000-£3200. I am going to use it mostly for gaming. To be fair I was wondering if this case I have selected is alright for the whole build.

@AgentCooper Well in addition, I am going to use it mostly for gaming but I will store some work files, pictures & videos etc. etc. That's why I have picked one 2TB HDD.

I've got a similar build on order, but chose a different case. I was aiming for a similar budget, so I'm sure that @AgentCooper can point out any issues my build has. I've had to order a keyboard, speakers and stuff, so there's savings to be had taking them out. I feel the base build is solid enough though.

I also have the exact same monitor as it happens.

This comes out at £2,853.00.

Excellent choice on the monitor 👍

The case is good, no need to worry about that. 64GB of RAM is a bit overkill for a gaming build, you can easily drop that to 32GB and still be future proofed.

The biggest issue... is the CPU. You’d be so much better off going for an AMD chip. This thread is worth checking out...

Our good friend @ActuallyDenz has a cracker of a build there, one of the few occasions we’ve never had to suggest any changes 🙂👍

If you’re willing to make the change to AMD and wait until the 5th of November, the next gen Ryzen chips are released and you could have an absolute monster of a machine.

@ActuallyDenz Really nice build mate. @AgentCooper Thanks, I am using this monitor for a while on my current PC and I have to say it's really good. I will check out this thread regarding AMD vs INTEL and I will think about amending my order. Btw guys have you already received your machines with RTX3080 or are you still waiting?

I’m actually waiting for the 3070, I’ve got an ultrawide 1440p screen so the 3080 would be a bit wasted on my monitor. Thirteen days to go until I’m mashing F5 😆

Yesterday I have received ETA 19.10 before that it was supposed to be 16.10, so I am going to ignore those automatic emails. I have placed the order at release date of 3080.

I'm still waiting. Was originally planning to order in November to take advantage of the new Ryzen 5000 CPUs released on the 5th, but when I realised just how short stock of the 3080s are, placed my order on the 2nd so I'm in the queue for one. I've asked PCS not to dispatch until I can add a 5900X to the order, so hoping to get it maybe 5/6 weeks from now.

If you did decide to go down the AMD route (I'd definitely advise doing it, but obviously it's your choice), I've seen a few customers on here order Intel and PCS seemed to be fairly happy to amend the order to AMD over the phone. :)

I amended my order to AMD via email and that was resolved quickly considering how busy they are, I just had to tell them which motherboard and CPU I wanted. The following was added to my order list as a sub-order:

And all I had to do is pay for the price difference (it was £139 for those specific changes). All the other components that I amended before that were compatible and I didn't need to change anything else. I'm glad it went through smoothly, it'd be a shame if I had to cancel and reorder and go to the very back of the queue.
