What is the average wait time for a 3070 if you amend? I have been waiting for a 3080 for like 63 days and I am thinking I will just get it when it's in stock, I have a 1440p and 1080p monitor so will it be much of a difference for AAA games?
Please try and keep this thread about the 3080's rather than the others that you may be considering changing to

I ordered 29th Jan and managed to get a 3080/5800 in less than a week (actually went into build & test after 2WDs). PCS were really helpful when it came to cancelling my order.
thats insane?! how though?
prove it. this isnt really possible from what i've been reading in this forum. please prove it and if you cant maybe not post it?
If you see his last sentence it says he cancelled his PCSpecialist order and ordered from a competitor.

He messaged me about it and I called the company he advised and they quoted me no longer than 14 days (at the time of calling) if I wanted a 5800 and 3080, but said they could be around a month if I wanted the 5900 I had asked for.
I’m 63 days into PP so may dibble dip and cancel whichever one is slowest

tbf I don’t know why they are even taking new orders. They’re so far behind that ethically I’m surprised they make agreements with people for the sale of 3080s.
Someone did the math on how long it would take to get an order based on the current pace and you’re probably looking at over a year ordering now.
Please don’t take any notice of this, this is complete nonsense and I’ve issued a warning to @Tamutol

There is just no need to fabricate utter nonsense to make the situation worse for people.

A recent email I received from support suggests around day 80 to be the golden ticket , which also lines up with what several here have posted.
Fingers crossed 80 means something, I’m firmly in the mid 80s waiting for the email every minute

I ordered my Ryzen 5900 RTX 3080 gaming rig 2 weeks ago. However, I'm one of the lucky ones, because with Covid I've had all my annual leave cancelled whilst being asked to do extra shifts. So I wouldn't have had time to play for the foreseeable future anyway.
Hmm... are they actually allowed to do that?

I don’t know how many 3080 orders there are but if on the website instead of it saying it’s a pre order (which we all understand) it would be better to say based on our current backlog we would suggest not putting money in our bank account until May / June time. There’s nothing wrong with that it doesn’t make you necessarily go to a competitor either just decent business practice.

I wonder how many orders there are for people who have never registered for the forums - it’s all fine and dandy (well it isn’t but you get my point) for the six or seven regulars I see saying ‘day 82 here’ but just how many orders are there - if I knew there were potentially hundreds ahead of me, I would have happily held off until say May / June time. On the other hand, it might only be you lot who post every day. And that’s the uncertainty.

The supply issues have been mainstream news now for months, everyone should be aware of significant delays.

Both Nvidia and AMD have both expressly stated that the issues are expected to continue until the end of March at the earliest.

It’s not up to PCS to educate the buyer of the market, it’s down to the customer to be informed as with any goods purchase.

He’s not asking to be educated on the global shortage, he’s asking PCS to be more open about their situation when we order, like other system builders are…

Also I can say for certain that whilst a moderator on a computer forum might think “everyone” should be aware, the vast majority of people are probably not aware and why would they be?

To be fair to PCSpecialists it states pre order on any 3000 series graphics cards and AMD cards along with the CPUs. If people see preorder they should then look into what it means and how long they will be waiting.

PCS have a banner on the homepage expressly stating there WILL be delays.

They have plastered notices all over the forums.

They're sending out regular emails to notify of the delays.

Because they are the consumer. When making any purchase it's up to the consumer to educate themselves on what they're buying.
