Screen busted during trip

After my most recent trip I've unbagged my Optimus I to discover that the screen has cracked :( (It was a rather bumpy ride - I guess). I have emailed pcspecialist at noon today, asking if they could repair it and how much it would cost me.
Figured I'd ask if anyone else had a similar situation and how they handled it, has anyone attempted to replace the screen by themselves?

I think a screen is £69 or £79 from the spare parts section in the accounts pages, once logged in... All I can help with though, don't know what labour would be.

I've fitted screens before, and wouldn't be all that unconfident to do so, but you may not feel the same!

I wonder if pcs provide any assembly sheets with the spare parts... would hate to break off an odd plastic bit.

Edit: followed the above advice and there is indeed a replacement available in the parts section for 49 pounds :) Will w8 for a pcs response to my email and then probably order it.

You may find it quicker to give them a call tomorrow, cos the emails can sometimes be a day or two behind especially when they're busy.

Most laptops will just have a couple of screws holding the bezle down around the screen, normally under the little sticky plastic corner tabs, and once thats off its normal a cable unplug couple of mounting screws swap screens and then put back together, nothing compared to replacing anyting under the keyboard. However see what PCS say, if you have a warrenty might even be kind to do it for free belongs you purchase screen from them or at a low cost.

...collection and redelivery is £35.00 and the labour will likely be £20...

I rather avoid the extra cost and the fuss. I have taken apart a few laptops before (never actually had to disassemble the lid itself), I'll probably be fine - just need to be extra careful not to crack any of the plastics. Thank you for your advise fellas, I have now ordered the screen.

Update: Item dispatched - notification via sms and email just 10 minutes after placing the order.... just wow.

There are some good video tutorials on the net on how to change a laptop screen,
one tip I can give you is get someone to help you.
Holding the screen & trying to get the tiny screws in the sides is quite tricky,
if you drop one it disappears, honest. :)

arrived on monday. Took me 15 minutes to replace (10 of which i've spent lifting the bezel, as really did not want to break any bit off). Started up later as if nothing ever happened ;]. Thanks to pcs for keeping previous model pats in stock! And thank you fellas for all the advice.
