There may be a switch for turning it on or off.

One or Two problems with my new system.

My NZXT Phantom 410 led on the fan is not on for some reason? (Is there a switch?) Also the pc keeps freezing for like 5 - 10 seconds then kicks back to life.. any idea's or comments would be appreciated!

As you've just received the PC,probably best give tech support a call.
call (0844 499 4000)
Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm (Saturdays 9am - 1pm).
View waiting times http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/call-waiting/

I phoned them today and they were very helpful and patient as i am not very good with the insides of computers, It seems that the RAM was maybe knocked in transport and was causing the freezing and as for the fan they are sending me a new one out to try fit myself which i think will be fun as i've not done it before (I've been told it's very easy, Plug in and play). Very pleased with the service so far :)

Yeah fitting ram is very easy :) Just remember to switch off the PSU, unplug it and ground yourself by touching a bare metal part of the case before you do anything :)

Indeed, i did exactly that and fingers crossed nothing has frozen so far :) Happy bunny at the moment just wish World Of Warcraft would hurry up and download :(

So the freezing is back, i unclipped the RAM and clipped it back in again and it seemed to have fixed it but now it's freezing again and the computer hasn't moved from it's spot. Any idea's on what else might be causing this?

You could try one ram stick at a time to check if one might be faulty.

Does any PCS employee's read these forums out of hours? Really getting annoyed with this now.

As for the LED Fan issue, None of the fans had LED's which i think is weird as it's meant to be stock with the case?

I seriously doubt that a memory stick could be dislodged via transit as the force required to do that would smash the machine totally.

You have a faulty product, it is within the return time so make use of that. You wouldnt go and buy a £1000 tv and accept it if it was broken on delivery and be expected to make repairs on behalf of the company you bought it from, so why do it now?

It seems a common theme on these forums regarding new machines delivered and not functional as expected, I thought PCS had a rigorous testing procedure? Apparently it is not as rigorous as one would hope anymore since PCS became more well known. To many machines being made and not the staff to test them properly this looks like.

Phone PCS on Tuesday (bank holidays sigh) and get it returned for diagnostics.

It is bit unfair to make a comment on how rigorous testing/quality is without knowing the % of systems that experience issues. From my own experience I found technical support extremely helpful.

Agree with Everon, try to contact PCS on Tuesday.

I agree Keynes that we dont and never will know the percentage that have these problems on delivery, but as I said it seems a common theme lately with new customers posting on here with machines with faults out of the box. To many times I read people blaming this on parts being dislodged on transit. Im aware that in rare cases this can happen but many of the posts seem to imply that some pc's arent being tested properly before dispatch.

Memory would not "pop" out if it was fitted and tested properly before dispatch and neither would many other components. Yes the odd cable may come loose but thats all that should happen. Loose memory, cpu, psu should and would be expected to be picked up in the final quality testing i would expect.

Just my thoughts on that, Jay.

The forums aren't officially supported by PCS, the staff do sometimes frequent them out of hours but understandably nothing is guaranteed, best to get in touch through the official channels.

@ToxicFox It sometimes used to be the case that in order to place the protective bag inside the PC (I see you have a large chassis) the fan header occasionally had to be disconnected to fit it in, depending on the placement. I'm going back a few years here and the case line-up has changed significantly but there used to be one or two where it had to be taken out for transit and reconnected user end.

Regarding the other problem maybe an RMA would be for the best. I know it's frustrating but better to wait a little longer and get the issue resolved properly.

I thought this but did not want to jump to any conclusion as i don't have the facts to do so but my reasons for doubting are: An LED Fan is included with the case as standard (NZXT Phantom 410) please correct me if im wrong but when i received my computer none of the fans had any LED's on them, Would this be PCS taking the LED one out for some reason? even so during testing they should pick it up, i know it seems a small problem to moan about but it makes me wonder if this was overlooked then what else was?

I spent over £1000 on this system and it certainly has not yet proven to be worth my money.

If you are on about the foam insert that was inside the case then no i don't think anything was disconnected and the insert pretty much fell out itself when i opened the case.

Ok so i requested an RMA on the 31/05/2013 and the pc was picked up on the 05/06/2013, it was tested today and this is what they said.

Fault Report:

Tests run and fault was found to be with the HDD. This was causing the system to freeze for a few seconds and then carry on working. The HDD has been replaced and windows has been reinstalled along with all latest drivers.

My pc has now been marked as dispatched and should arrive tomorrow along with the game i was missing in the first place, The fan issue (Why was the LED one taken out?) remains un-solved but i replaced it myself. All in all if everything is running fine when i get it i will be a happy bunny once more!

My wife bought me a Razer mouse and Keyboard for an early father's day present so cant wait to use them!
