Tempted to put a SSD in instead of the main drive but apart from that, do I have enough power?
The machine will be used mostly for video editting and games so any other alternative setups would be great to read about.

If you can post your max budget then i am sure someone will find a better balanced spec for you, the GT 520 GPU is not really a gaming card it should be ok on low settings but if you want med or high settings then you need to be looking at a GTX 550Ti at the minimum.

Thanks! My budget is around the £1k mark.

As I say I would like to use it mostly for video editing but if I was to game on it I would want everything up as high as I could.

Cheers,
O.

Thanks for that. I have plenty of spare HDD though so I was thinking, would it be better to drop the HDD down to a smaller size and up the memory from 8GB to 16GB?

Would also like a Blu-Ray player rather than a re-writer as I don't burn many DVDs and can always add this at a later stage....

If you can stretch your budget to £1065 you could drop the HDD to a 750GB caviar black (if you drop to the 500GB you only save another £5 so not worth it) then you can get 16GB samsung ram and the Bluray player that is £45 as this will also write DVD's.

I think I might be pushing it to up my budget to £1065 but will have a look as see. Do you think it is worth me going up to 16GB RAM or am I just being greedy? :)

As I say, will be doing mostly video editing, photo editing and games will be a secondary task, but when I do play I want it to look pretty :)

Thanks for all your help.

If you do find yourself short of RAM it can be added at a later date, its a quick and easy job. You are always better to have plenty of RAM for video editing, but 8GB is still quite alot.

Another option if you wanted more ram +blu ray etc. You could drop down to a 560ti on the GPU, would save you about £80 that could be spent elsewhere. The 560ti is like the sweetspot of the current Nvidia range, very quick card and good value for money too. If gaming is only a secondary consideration then a GTX 570 isn't needed, the 560ti will be able to crank up the settings to a decent level for a good while to come.

Thanks for the advice about the graphics card and RAM.

I think I will stick with 8Gig and see what happens. As you say, I can always add at a later stage. I might drop down the Graphics card as well as I would quite like a SSD and this would allow me to do that.

Think I am almost ready to order!! *excited*

I've put the 750W PSU in because I will be adding 2 or 3 500Gb HDD in to the machine which I already have and I will also put in a Blu-ray player at a future date. Thought it would be better to get the PSU, GPU and SSD just now and then I can upgrade other areas as and when required.
