Its good taht you already have this HDD
the reason people were recommending it was because your OS will be installed onto the 500GB 8mb cache HDD which wont provide as speedy a startup as the WD caviar green

Hmm ok I understand, I was counting on that as I already have Win 7 Pro installed on my 2TB drive and then when my new system comes I can sell my old system with the 500GB Drive with Win 7 HP installed.

Thanks for the help

Im not sure that you can do that unless the OS is retail (PCS sells OEM)
Its something to do with windows taking a record of the hardware on the PC and not working if the spec is changed too much

Not sure thats competely right. would someone like to elaborate....

EDIT : oh and you dont have to specify a OS for your system

Ahh alrighty then will do some research over the weekend then :D thanks

Edit:

After posting this reply I looked up and saw my old retail copy of XP which used to be on my old system before I upgraded the HDD to the 2tb and Win 7 Pro, so with a bit of messing about I could load XP on to the 500GB drive and do it that way

then I don't have to worry about ordering an OS with this system, but again as mentioned before will do some research and see.
