is it worth getting the anti glare screen?

I have a spare 60gig ssd in my main pc can I put this into the latop, is it an easy job, would that void the warranty

I have Seen an MSI GE70 comes in at £1139, £230 cheaper that the vortex III
if I do a like for like in the spec I did on pcs configurator.
only thing I can see really is that the graphics card is better on the vortex 670vs650(possibly660) and has backlit keys, is the vortex much better?

both specs below.

"Providing you install these correctly, and you do not damage your computer during or as a result of installing your own components, your warranty will still be valid."

The specs you provided from another retailer does not specify the brand of the hard drive you are getting.

ATI 7970m

hi if you have the money I would upgrade the Nvidia GTX670m to the ATI 7670m it is very much faster in the benchmarks it is just a thought

Nvidia have just released the 680M and it's getting glowing reviews so far, I don't know when they'll be available from PCS but it might be worth checking out their price?

I've chosen to pay £79 more for the Matte screen. However it is personal taste. If you will use the laptop in a variety of places (e.g. outside) then yes - as it will stop the reflections in the screen. Also the colours shown on the Matte screen are more true to life. When you print something, the colours will match what you've seen.

I've also chosen to pay for the matte version. I've only ever used a matte screen on my laptop and I couldn't imaging using a glossy screen. I've seen glossy screens on laptops in person and wondered how anyone could do anything with the awful glare but, then again, most people probably don't know any better. If you have a chance, pop into your local computer store and have a look around at the laptops on offer and you should be able to notice yourself which of the laptops have glossy and which don't; most likely the majority of them will so feel free to ask one of the members of staff to point out which have a matte screen.

For me, its replacing my desktop. I won't be using it much in the sunlight really. So the colours are crisp, and great and showcase true 1920 x 1080 res.

Are you taking this laptop outside in plenty of light or is it a desktop replacement? Matte for the former, glossy for the latter.

I cant make my mind up what to do.

first I thought msi then vortex now cant make my mind up between

the vortex iii 17.3 or the Samsung 700G7C 17.3

Gong to have to ponder a bit more I guess

I was looking at the Samsung 700G7C but decided against it due to the fact that I couldn't customise the hard drive options, it had a glossy screen and it just didn't appear to be that durable. Mind you, I never use my laptop other than in my house but you want to at least think that your laptop looks sturdy enough to last a couple of years at least. Unfortunately I didn't feel that way about the Samsung so I bought a Vortex III instead; with a matte screen I might add.

Ooo I can feel myself swinging back to the vortex now

Can I ask you some questions please
how are you liking your Vortex 3
What's the noise level like when gaming, my mrs will go nuts if its like a hair-dryer whilst she watching tv :)
What is the keyboard like to type on
Are the vortexes upgradable graphics and cpu wise as well as the hds?
Can you post the spec you went with?

how are you liking your Vortex 3 - I only bought my Vortex III 7 days ago so it's still in pre-production.
What's the noise level like when gaming, my mrs will go nuts if its like a hair-dryer whilst she watching tv :) - See above.
What is the keyboard like to type on - See above.
Are the vortexes upgradable graphics and cpu wise as well as the hds? - As far as I'm aware, the GPUs are MXM compatible so if a new MXM compatible GPU became available in the future, there's a possibility you could upgrade but there's no guarantee.
Can you post the spec you went with? - I went with the 2nd spec in this thread.

Look above in bold for the answers to your questions. :)

I think Craigsup is still waiting for it to be delivered.
I feel creepy knowing that.

Edit: Actually, he just posted in a threat that he's received it.

Nope, I am currently using my Vortex III.
I must say, it is an absolute BEAST!
I'm currently installing all my files/programs/games etc so if you give me an hour or so, i'll let you know how loud it is when gaming. While running 5-7+ installers at once and running an antivirus scan it is actually quiet. There is a small fan noise but nothing loud.

Later on tonight, maybe 8-9pm i'll write a very detailed review and upload pictures etc!
