Any thoughts or improvements you could suggest for this desktop, could stretch the budget to £600-£650 max.
It will mostly be used for surfing the internet, music and playing mainly RTS games.

The Intel specification is the better of the two, but for surfing the internet, music and playing mainly RTS games both specs will be closely matched. It's only when you start to push your computer further that the Intel CPU will start to show its strength over the AMD.

I'd also suggest in terms of HDD, somethign in the middle of the two. I.e the 1TB WD10EARS 64mb cached drive (SATA 3g and not 6g) The diff is performance is virtually null as 6g is more for solid state drives due to mechanical drives being restricted by the 7200RPM. Velociraptors can make slightly more use of the sata 6g.

Like PCS said, its a close call.
