Thoughts on this build

Hey there,

I'm looking to buy a new system, I've configured this and wondered what others thought. What would they change etc.
I plan on getting 1 or 2 x 27" 1440p 144Hz monitors to pair with it. My budget is up to £3,000 excl. monitors. I also have a 4TB NVME drive I will be putting in this from my current PC.

Give this a read and answer the questions it raises, it also gives instructions on how to post the spec to the forum

What will you be using it for?

What is the rationale behind getting 2 high refresh 1440p monitors? Just asking as using 2 monitors for gaming doesn't work...it's either 1 or 3. It's possible maybe a high refresh Ultrawide (maybe even Superwide) would be better but it all comes back to the uses.

For gaming, the XTX is vastly over-powered for 1440p so you could save some money there...unless you need it for productivity purposes etc...which then comes back to your uses.

Also, if you could go back to the post to forum page (where you copied the spec from) and include the Unique Configurable URL in green at the bottom please? Just makes it easier for us to go in and tinker with a spec rather than building it from scratch. Thanks

It would be for gaming. I use 2 monitors as I like games on one and browser, discord / other windows on another. I guess that seems a waste to have two 1440p 144hz when one would be used for the games 99% of the time. What card would you recommend? Thanks

So you're not actually gaming on both monitors, so there's no benefit to having the second as a gaming monitor with high refresh as display doesn't use this.

Should I still get a 1440p monitor for my second? Would it be jarring to have my second as 1080P with my first being the 1440p 144Hz do you think?

Having 2 different resolution screens doesn't make a difference...I currently game on a 55" 4k TV and my second monitor is a 32" 1440p monitor. When I first started racing with streamers, my primary screen was the aforementioned 1440p screen and my second display was a 32" 720p TV.

Regarding the spec itself, dropping to GPU to one more suited for 1440p 144Hz gaming (I believe that GPU should be enough...AMD GPUs aren't my wheelhouse) frees up a lot of budget..even with some upgrades on a few parts, it is still cheaper. I have put in a 1TB primary drive but a lot here would recommend a 500GB one to promote good housekeeping of files etc...I prefer more than less personally.

Thankyou, that card is pretty damn good and like £370 cheaper. I feel I might switch to that.
Do you think the 1000W is necessary or would the 850W be enough?

1000w is more than is needed now.....however, we spec systems that will last anything up to 10 years with a GPU or 2 change over that time....if you decide to upgrade to the next gen of GPU when it comes along, this would cover any increased power needs.

Better to spend an extra £30 now and be covered than save that £30 but then need to buy a new PSU down the line at a cost of £100+ as well as the hassle of fitting it
Thankyou good point. What's your views on the 4070 coming out?
