Hey

my problem is not knowing what I’m doing half the time.
You guys have all the experience but I have zilch. I don’t even have a USB. Haha. I’m the type of person who just says “ here fix this for me “ and waits for it to be finished.

hypothetically, I’ve already done the clean install. Where would you go next ?

if I got the pc guys to manually remotely control my pc would they be able to figure something out that way? Like could I run the game and then they can see exactly how it plays and tell me what the problem is. The pc is still under warranty and has Labour costs included.

thx

cj
Troubleshooting doesn’t work that way. You have to systematically eradicate problem areas to uncover what remains. It’s a methodical process that takes step by step.

The problem you’re describing could be anything from hard drive to internet to software to overheating, we have to work through each step to narrow down where the problem stems from.

You will need to learn how to troubleshoot any custom PC, it goes hand in hand for smooth operation.

Hi

Still don’t understand how a brand new pc would have such issues if it was tested properly before it left the warehouse.

It’s quality assurance?

For it to have had issues from day 1 doesn’t sit well with me.

It for sure won’t be the internet.

And I appreciate you offering me your advice.
I am no computer technician and I do not like the idea of trying to fix something I know nothing about and then somehow end up doing more damage than good that may void or somehow diminish my warranty in any capacity.

I guess I’m going to have to contact the company and explain the situation.

If I were more confident in doing what you advised then I would but it’s too much of a risk for me.

I mean it should have been 100% fine. I’d expect issues years on. Not straight out the gate. Someone failed somewhere if a pc which is brand new has issues right away.

Again I appreciate your help.

Thx

That’s not something I can address because I don’t know what the issue is yet. There could be many contributing factors outside of PCS control, something come loose in shipping, downloaded a virus, PC not updated, there’s hundreds of reasons. Again, that’s something troubleshooting will uncover.

I can tell you’re not open to troubleshooting, log it with PCS and get them to have a look. But that system working properly would max out any game you like at 1080p.

I couldn’t have downloaded a virus. I only play wow. And the only person who accessed the internet was the pcs guy who downloaded some drivers when he accessed the internet to run a benchmark test.

Pc updates itself all the time as well.

Surely if someone remotely access the pc and runs the programs max level as currently I will only run it on 6/10, they can potentially rule out quite a lot of things.?

I will ring them next week when I have a week off and hopefully they can help.

Thx for your time.

I have to wonder why you've waited 10 months to do something about what you feel is a problem. Why did you not get on to PCS the moment you discovered it wasn't performing as you expected?

It for sure won’t be the internet.
It's just not possible for you to claim that unless you have another PC that plays WoW perfectly over the same Internet connection. As @SpyderTracks has been at pains to point out, troubleshooting is a process of elimination and you cannot yet eliminate your Internet connection.

And I appreciate you offering me your advice.

@SpyderTracks has given you excellent links and information to enable you to clean install Windows from scratch, as he rightly says that is an essential first step in finding out whether your issues are software or hardware.

We all had to start somewhere, this might be an interesting learning exercise for you. :) We are all very happy to hold your hand as you reinstall and answer any questions you might have. You aren't going to break anything just doing a clean install of Windows so you need have no fears about voiding your warranty.

I guess I’m going to have to contact the company and explain the situation.

If I were more confident in doing what you advised then I would but it’s too much of a risk for me.
PCS will I'm sure RMA it for you, but you'll be without it for the 3 or 4 weeks that RMAs seems to be taking at the moment. If all they do is a reinstall of Windows (and that will be one of the first things they'll do) and that sorts the problem then you could have saved yourself those 3 or 4 weeks by doing a reinstall yourself. :)

Reinstalling Windows isn't rocket science and anyone can do it. It's a fairly simple process too - and if you muck it up then you just start again. We'll all be here if you need our help. :)

I mean it should have been 100% fine. I’d expect issues years on. Not straight out the gate. Someone failed somewhere if a pc which is brand new has issues right away.
Yes it should have worked out of the box, and most PCS builds do. The testing process is designed to check that the components work and that the system doesn't overheat under load, but there is no way that PCS (or anyone) can exhaustively test new PCs on every popular game to see whether that game has an issue.

Whatever you decide to do please let us know how things go. :)

Hi there.

Thanks for your replies.

I did bring this up under a year ago. And I received an RMA. For the issues above.

But I didn’t send it right away. As I only played it for a few hours a day. But soon I will be playing it a lot with the new expansion.

Also my bro plays his pc over the same very connection which is why I ruled it out as internet issues.

But now I’m gonna start playing it more.

So it’s been on going. I have the emails to prove it.

Thanks though

Hi guys. Quick question. Would my rig above support a bigger gpu if I wanted it? Atm it’s a 570 but the minimum requirements is going to be a 560 atm. So my card is only slighter better so prob unable to run at max and high fps.

If I decided on a gtx 2060 super would that run efficiently and no FPS issues and such like ?

Thx

Will your PSU cope with that card?

That’s why I’m asking hahaha.

I had an email advising this card from pc specialist. But I just want to make sure! ??

Hi there ,

So atm I want to play wow on max settings but the minimum requirement is a 560 card.

I don’t think a 570 will be able to run the game on max settings as I have already experienced FPS loss in some heavy designed zones. And I’m worried that it won’t run well when the expansion comes out.

I just want to be able to play at max settings with no FPS issues. I don’t think the 570 is capable of this. ? If it struggles at max capacity already !

What you think ?

Well, that PSU will run a 2060 Super (I have an almost identical system to yours running a 2060 Super on a 550w TxM PSU and have no power issues so, while the PSU you have is an inferior model, it has the power capacity), not sure you will gain anything from swapping over (though I don't know the 590 well enough toi be sure)

hey there.

I must have read it wrong when I was going through my pc. So let’s assume it’s 590 for a second. If it’s still struggling even tho it’s a 590 for instance ?Isn’t the leap to a better card going to improve the experience a lot? Like I want to be able to run it with no drop on fps. Atm it seems very likely with this card ?As you can tell I’m not super computer experienced! But I don’t want to have issues once the expansion goes live.

are you saying it won’t improve my experience much from a 590 to a more recent card,

thx

I'm confused here as your spec list earlier in the thread lists the GPU as a 590?

What monitor are you pairing it with? What make and model?

Hi.
I know I’m going to get grilled here, I’m actually running it on my tv as I don’t have a monitor atm. My living space doesn’t work with a station set up. So it’s a 46 inch tv. It’s a Samsung smart tv.
😬

I think it’s running the 1080p. Full screen.
If you’ve got bad quality on 1080p it’s because there’s a problem with your system, nothing wrong with the card. Upgrading wouldn’t improve anything.

If it’s a 4k TV (you need to be sure as they are entirely different things), then it’s not even close to powerful enough, you’d need a minimum of a 3070 @ £500

Hi there

it’s not bad quality when I play atm. But as I said if I’m seeing a drop in fps in certain zones and it’s nothing to do with the tv being 4k as it’s 7 years old tv.
I guess I just have to play it on max settings when it’s released and see how it handles and then maybe come back and explain what it is I’m experiencing. As you seem to think it should work perfectly fine at max settings as it is.
Thx for your responses
