Hi, will this run houdini at a decent level? Also maybe a bit of Nuke and unreal with raytracing capabilities would be a big plus but not essential.

My budget is around 1600-2k

Ill be using an Oled tv as the monitor

This doesnt need to be high end production level, just enough so i can experiment in my own time.

Couple of notes mate, first of all drop Bullguard. Windows Defender is free with windows and better than Bullguard

Secondly Ryzen CPU like fast ram so I wouldn't get any ram that's less than 3200Mhz in speed

4TB Iron would drop and go for a combo of an M2 drive for the OS and then an SSD for my files

Most importantly up the PSU, 550W is very very light you will need more power than that. For that build I would go minimum of 750W

@Steveyg makes some salient points there. What I’d add is that the CPU you’ve chosen is going to cook that motherboard when it starts working hard. The build could do with some optimisation to get it running a decent level. If you have a read of the thread linked below and then update this one with the relevant info, someone will no doubt lend a hand 🙂👍

Sorry for the bump, wonder if anybody could help me out please? If you need more info let me know :)

The info for the chip was in the collaboration of links. It's a really good idea to read and try to understand as much as you can as you are spending a whole wad of cash on this system :)

Or... TLDR; X570 Strix.

Hey thanks for the respone.

What do you mean it was im collaboration of link?

In the link provided earlier:

There are various links to go through and try to digest. Specific to your query is inside the "Desktop Building Guide" which breaks down every component and the variations in which they would be recommended to be selected together :)

specs are updated
Last suggestion would be to up that PSU, you'll want a bit of headroom for future upgrades and to stop it running 100% all day. I would go with at least 750W with that build to be honest just for my own piece of mind

But yeah it's a solid build outside of that

Yeah this one has completeley gone. Should i go for another or wait?
well you're going to be waiting no matter what, I think people are waiting 2-3 months at the minute so the lead time is going to kick you in the rear end no matter what you do

You are unlikely to need 64GB of RAM and you need it to be much faster, 3200 or 3600 MHz. 256GB isn’t really enough for your OS drive, ideally you want 512 and a separate 1TB for your games. The AX200 is a better WiFi card. I don’t know much about the AMD GPUs, so can’t tell if that is the right one for your monitor, but do know there has been a history of driver problems with that generation of cards. Ideally, you would have a fully modular RMx PSU to allow for future upgrades and extend the life of your build. I am sure there are some other improvements that could be made as well.

Thanks for the feedback

The ram is for running Houdini and nuke not just for games which i wont be playing much.
