Wanting a second Hard Drive - advice please

Hi guys,

I want to add in another hard drive or SSD, but not sure what to go for. The reason for this is that I would like to record some gaming footage whilst playing, and I have heard that you need two ideally, so that the footage records to one and the game to the other.

Any suggestions?

I wondered if I should get an SSD and put my OS and couple of games on that, whilst using my hard drive for recording?

Thanks in advance.

I'd go for an SSD as a primary drive and as you mentioned the caviar black for storage.

Thanks that's what I was thinking. I am not any sort of PC wiz, so can you tell me if an SSD will fit into my spec? And if I can easily fit one myself without having to send it into PC specialist?

Thanks.

Yes it will, you just need to put the SSD as the main drive and the caviar black as a secondary drive when you are doing your spec.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear, I have already got the spec at home with the caviar black HD. What I need is a couple of suggestions for good SSD's. And also to know how easy it is to fit one myself.

Thanks.

The Corsair Force series SSD's are good :) On Scan for about £63 (i won't post a link, Rakk might hit me!)

on the fitting side, jsut screw it into a drive bay, connect a SATA cable and power cable, you're golden :)

Thanks, do these drives come with the above cables mentioned?

I love OCZ vertex 3/4 SSD myself. All just preference I suppose. I would suggest though, when installing the SSD, remove all other drives power while installing windows, and after windows is installed on the SSD then return the power to the other HDD. It seems to be the best way to do it imo. It will also set BIOS boot device as the correct one without any messing about.

Ok guys so I have gone ahead and purchased this SSD: Corsair 120GB Force 3 SSD CSSD-F120GB3-BK. Can you please tell me what power cables I will need for it?

Thanks.
