Hang on, thats what I said, It's just I gave the mathematical proof to prove it as well! :)
Yes,on reading your post again,you were right.
I was just baffled with the algebra bit :)
my explanation is a bit simpler(I think)
whatever number you choose eg. 35, add the digits 3 +5=8
subtracting that addition from the original number & adding the digits of the answer will always add up to 9.in this case 27.when you look at the symbols in the puzzle,the same symbol which is the answer,will always add up to 9.the clever bit (I thought)is they keep changing the symbol.

Hehe, yeah, my algebra actually proved it would always be the case for a two digit number :)
Maybe I should've just written down it'll always end up as a multiple of 9 with no explanation lol :)
