White/Black/Blue theme. Thoughts?

So I'm thinking of modding my PC internally to fit this colour scheme. I'm quite far away from saving enough to buy all this, so I have plenty of time to make my mind up.

First of all the CPU cooler will have to go (it looks hideous anyway). I'm thinking of swapping it for the Intel Liquid Cooler. It has a blue LED fan and a blue logo that lights up (If I'm not mistaken). The motherboard is part blue so this will match nicely.

Secondly the fans are going to have to be changed. I'm a bit torn here because I want the fans to match the cooler fan - but I think it might be overkill on the blue? The fans would be ideally white or blue blades, not LED (exception made for the cooler which I think has an LED fan).

Thirdly the green logo on the GTX690 has got to go as it will clash horribly. I'm thinking this: http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/vga/598/accelero-twin-turbo-690.html

...and finally I need some lighting inside to make it all visible. Any thoughts here? I was thinking cathode lights. Not sure what would look best here, blue or white. They would just line the edges of the case.

Please stick your thoughts in here!

I really want this case to look completely reserved from the outside, but when you pop open the case you see this amazing looking bit of kit inside. Kinda like when you lift the bonnet of a nice car and see the beautiful engine.

Would you consider a different case? If I am not mistaken the silencio doesn't have a side window and it is more like a silent case than a gaming case. The last review I read on the intel liquid cooler was that it wasn't as good as other coolers like the corsair h80 or h100. Replacing the cooler in the gtx 690 is going to void your warranty.

I'm not sure about a new case yet. I suppose I would be open to changing if it were to look good. I'm not sure I dig the whole lights blazing out under my desk thing. I was hoping it would all be kinda secret until you looked inside.
I would be open to changing the cooler. Is it possible to change the fans on them?
With regards to warranty... it might be a risk I have to take. I suppose I could see what it looks like first. It's mostly the green logo I don't like, but as of yet I'm stuck with it. If I could find a good enough way to disguise it without it looking tacky I would do that.

A colour scheme will look great but it is going to be expensive considering the changes you will want to do. I wouldn't risk replacing the gpu cooler and voiding the warranty just for the colour scheme, your gpu could experience a fault in the future and it is not an ideal situation if you voided your warranty,

This is true. Perhaps I'll leave the 690 for the time being then. I don't mind the price, I'll probably do it a bit at a time.

hmmm, why change the insides if you cant see it? unless you find a window panel for the case?

It's not really about showing off for me, it's more like... self pride, if that makes sense? If I know what it looks like inside, that's all I care about :p

Well as I said, I would be open to a different case - but I love the idea of keeping it all secret until you actually open it up. Maybe it's just me...

I do know what you're saying but I am not sure it applies to computers. Your analagy earlier of a car engine bay is excellent, imagine an old clapped out car with nothing special about its looks but once you check in the bonnet you realise there is a gleaming high performance engine inside. Now this would work with a PC if you could get all the fancy bits inside of an old 'stereotypical white' pc from like the 90s and I agree it would look amazing. But once you get a relatively new and good case it becomes more obvious you're running something special underneath.

Maybe I'm being a pessimist? I don't know.

the problem is, OP does have a nice case... just needs a massive window to show it all off?

but remember once you start playing with hardware, adding bits and bobs... you wont ever stop!

That's fine. I don't want it to look like an old banger, I want it to look sleek and sophisticated. Like a really nice car, so nice on the outside that you ask to look under the bonnet just to see if it's as good!

Thanks, I do like the case. Sleek and reserved just like I wanted. I'm not going to be getting another case just yet, but it is something I may look at in the future.

ANYWAY, back onto my other questions. Would you get a white cathode light to show off the blue fans, or a blue light? I'm thinking white. Also, on the corsair coolers - can you change the fans to match the rest of the case? Or do they have to remain black?

for lighting i have the NZXT HUE LED controller... but if you cant see the light... I kinda dont see the point lol.

zas for the cooler, what model do you have?

you need to take into account that if you replace the fans, the must have 4pin PWM fans! and you should also make sure they are actually good fans, with good airflow and static pressure. Otherwise your temps will suffer.

Yeah, to be honest I'm not bothered about adjusting the colours, I was just gonna pick one colour and stick it in.

I don't have a liquid cooler just yet, just the "SPIRE GEMINI REV.3-THERMAX HDT TWIN FAN CPU COOLER (£39)". The fans on that are changeable, but it's very clunky and takes up soooo much space - you can barely see the motherboard.

you will still need decent 4pin PWM fans, same applies for all cpu coolers.

True... but they only cost me £5 for the two! Although I think I'll need a couple more for the rest of the case.

Well I'll be... literally as soon as I posted that the doorbell rang from the postie delivering them! I'll stick them in now...
