Will this setup be able to run The Witcher 2? And to what sort of graphical level?

CPU: AMD PHENOM II X4 955 @ 3.20GHz/8MB cache/AME (planning to OC to about 3.6GHZ, or 3.8GHZ)

Motherboard: Asus M5a87 m5a87, DDR3 dual, sata 6gb/s

RAM - 4GB samsung DDr3 1333mhz

Graphics - 2gb xfx HD 6950 DX11 eyefinity 4 (planning to unlock shaders and OC to about 950/1536)

1010w power supply (will 600W do?)

Thanks:)

I have been playing witcher 2 on low level as my computer is 4 years old.The graphics are excellent even at this level. My card is 4870, processor athlon 2 core and 2gb ram. I am sure that your rig will play it at highest level.

Witcher 2 for some reason is very demanding on graphics, yes it looks amazing but i really dont think other games that look this good use anywhere near the amount of power this does. My graphics cards even ona single screen get pretty hot, this is using 2 cards in sli.

It does run fine though on my friends computer running a gtx 460 (i think). Youll get good graphics out that setup.

Ah ok good stuff, thanks alot for your quick replies:) do you think 8gb of ram is worth getting?

If you want to make your spec as future proof as possible then why not. But in all honesty 4GB is plenty if just gaming and is easy to upgrade later if you need to.

Regarding PSU - get a 650w Corsair and you will be fine :)

Just to pre warn you your warranty on the CPU will be void if you have a failed overclock and overclocking the GPU i am pretty sure will void the warranty straight away.

If you want an overclocked system why not order it overclocked from PCS and then you can also get the better thermal paste, and check here http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?3284-Warranty-When-Overclocking!

@ Fear

But how much more will i have to pay for an OC GPU that i want, when i could do it myself? and im not talking about really pushing the boundries, just a little bit really.

Also i realise the warranty will be voided, i havnt done it before but ill do my research thoroughly and then give it a go!

Thanks

@Petchi B thanks for your advice:)

PCS will only OC the CPU not the GPU if you want and OC'ed GPU have a look on scan as they have some manufacturers hyped up versions and you will have a warranty with that and if you want to try doing something like that yourself i would get some old card that you don't mind if it gets ruined to learn how to do it there is no way i would risk buying a brand new system and having a first time OC'ing attempt on a brand new £200 card, is there no way you can save a little more and just buy a better GPU in the first place.

Well i will be buying the AMD 6950, and i have read alot about some "flaw" or something with AMDs production of this card, in a competition with one of the GTX cards, so they made the 6950 the same as 6970 but just with "limitation" such as the shaders which can be removed, and then thatd save me like £100 buying the 6970 because i could unlock the shaders and OC the 6950 to basically run at the same as the 6970 without touching the voltage much, if at all. I understand this card is pretty damn powerful anyway, i am not looking to OC the card for a while anyway, probably because i just wont need to! so it may even be out of the warranty anyway when i decide to do it!

The OC CPUs are damn expensive! I am just not that rich XD!!!

Thanks for your help fear
