Wireless a lot slower speeds than ethernet

My wireless (Edimax EW-7612PIn Wireless PCI-Express Adapter) gets a download speed of around 10Mbps where my ethernet plugged into router gets 16Mbps. This seems a bit of an excessive gap between the two to me. What do you guys think?

Wired will normally always beat wireless, just by how much depends on several conditions,
distance from router, obstacles like thick walls, etc.

Wireless is always a lot slower, like vanthus said. It's not a huge gap, that to me seems like decent speeds all around. Without seeing your setup and how far away you are from the router, it's hard to say if it's a normal gap, but I would assume so.

Yeah, I'd expect some gap but considering the router is around 1.5m away from ma comp it a bit much in my view. Its no big deal but next year I'll be moving to another place and will be unable to ethernet to router so it could be a bit annoying. Maybe not.
