Yodel is a disgrace and where's my game?

I ordered a custom desktop from pc specialist expecting them to provide me with a quality pc perfect for my needs and of better quality then the big computer companies. So why I decided to spend a lot of money and the very best pc I could.

Sadly when it arrived the graphics card broke within a couple of hours. So much for their extensive quality control procedures which take a whole week, even with these measures they still managed sent me a defective pc. This brought me into contact with their customer care team and their totally useless delivery company yodel. The customer care team was really good and immediately sent out a new graphics card to be delivered the next day, however yodel did not deliver it until 4 days later (not including the sunday) and lied to me the entire time.

I spent 4 days of my life sitting in my living room waiting for them to deliver it. They claimed that on the first day I wasn't in so they couldn't deliver it to me. This was a lie as I didn't leave my flat for 4 days, I just waited, the delivery driver didn't even try. I rang them everyday to find out where it was and organise another delivery. Yodel then lied to my face about what was happening, where it was, told me it was my fault for not being in, gave me fake telephone numbers for their depots to organise a delivery and wasted my time day after day saying it would be delivered. They are a disgrace and purely because of them I will never order anything from pc specialist ever again.

Also on their website they tell everyone to go for radeon graphics cards as you get a free copy of shogun total war 2 (its even on my invoice) and im still waiting for this a week and half later. Ive asked for it 3 times.

On the plus side the pc is great.

Unfortunately no matter how much testing you do, electronic components can fail, normally within the first month or just after the warranty has run out

Unfortunately PCS have no control over how Yodel do or do not do their deliveries, personally I've had no issues before, but some have, it seems to depend where you are in the country as to whether they are good or just downright terrible.
Look up any delivery company on Google, you'll find about 15 billion complaints.
PCS are currently on their 3rd courier company.

I presume you did check your welcome pack for the bit of paper that has the key on it, you don't get a boxed game, you get a Steam key for it (note: it's a hefty download - about 18gig)

While I understand your frustration, no courier company is perfect as Raak says. However, YODEL (the company formed by the merger of DHL Domestic and Home delivery network) is the biggest in the UK. While this doesn’t mean they are the best, to say you will not use us because we use Yodel is very much cutting your nose of to spite your face. If you refuse to use Yodel for anything then there are many many companies, some of the biggest e-tailers in the country that you will not use because they also use Yodel.

You had a problem for which we apologise but we did our bit and without hesitation sent a new card. Ok, there was an issue with delivery but the issue is now corrected and you have confirmed the pc is great. To then say you will never use us again, even though you admit the pc is great is simply not logical.

If you want i can put up a list of companies that use couriers that have less than 2 stars on most review sites. Oh that’s all of them. Guess the best thing is to not buy online anymore and go down the shops :)

Oh and about the game - Its while stocks last, and we do say this on the advert there, we do not have any shogun left :( There should however have been a repacement in the box which we did as a good will gesture.

In contrast, the yodel delivery man for my laptop rang me up as I wasn't home and arranged re-delivery that way.

Quite often, it's not down to the company but to the actual drivers. I have previously praised Royal Mail as I've never had problems. Then I jinx myself and I've missed two deliveries because the driver didn't leave a card each time. I knew only because I had the tracking numbers and had to head down to the depot.

Name the major courier companies and I've had issues with all of them at one point or another - and I mean City Link, DHL, Parcelforce, UPS, HDNL, DPD, FedEx and RM - and I've had good experiences too. The lazy drivers leave the parcel with the neighbours, even lazier ones don't bother with a card. The better ones come back in the evening on the return trip to the depot, and I've had two drivers from different companies (one of them yodel) ringing me up to ask about the delivery as I'm not home.

Yodel is a completely different company from PCS, so how can you blame them for a rubbish delivery? You just said that the PC is great, and that is the product PCS is offering you, so from the logic of your post, you'd prefer to buy a completely rubbish PC from a company who deliver your PC to you personally, in their limo made from fluffy clouds and jelly babies.

I guess this is like those ratings on Amazon. Someone gives a product a 1-star rating because of issues with the courier/delivery, despite the fact that they state they are happy with the product itself.

Scan use DPD, Ebuyer use City Link and Amazon use City Link and Royal Mail. Says enough about Yodel for everyone to know. The delivery company which a retailer uses has a huge bearing on where I shop. As does the RMA process. So far Amazon win hands down (though I've never had to RMA anything to PCS).

We use to use city link, and the service we recieved from them was far worse than anything we have had since. The number of computers they actually lost was unbelievable.

I'm quite pleased with Yodel. My laptop was dispatched on the 9th and I received it on the 11th. Probably would have received it yesterday if it wasn't raining so heavily.

What replacement? I didn't get any Shogun game or any other game for my Vortex II laptop. :(

To be honest it doesn't matter who supplies the free codes to get the games, they are generally a limited offer, therefore they can run out.
