Hi,
Just wanted some thoughts on this build for a Gaming Laptop. Won't have an external monitor so will just be running on the laptop screen. 2 SSDs as I require a Linux bootup for my school work but my primary will be the 1TB SSD selected. Budget is £1600, don't really want to go higher than...
Hi,
Hopefully should be a quick one as I don't think there is much to change with this set-up, but just want to see if any of the other alternatives e.g. defiance etc might be better than what i'm currently looking at. Budget is £1600 and will not be hooking laptop up to a monitor so just the...
Hoorah! I knew i'd be wasting hours trying to fix this silly thing, when it was just a cable issue! It is slightly annoying though, I don't see why a HDMI to mini DP cable should cause issues. The HDMI to HDMI cable did the trick! The screen is so high quality I need to get used to it because...
Ah yes but it came with a DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable, and none of my devices have a DisplayPort input. I assume that's a thing for PCs as it's not on my laptop.
Unfortunately no, I only have a HDMI to mini DP cable or VGA to x cable. When the HDMI to HDMI comes in tomorrow i'll test it on my old laptop as well since it doesn't have a mini DP input. If it doesn't work on both my laptops then I think it's safe to assume that it's a monitor issue.
Yeah I tried all of them even though i've plugged the HDMI cable into the HDMI 1 slot, but nope still just no signal. There aren't even any options on the display to do anything apart from click the input. Guessing other options only become available when it actually has a signal.
Sadly that didn't work. What confuses me is how the laptop acknowledges the monitor, but won't 'detect' it in the display settings. If the HDMI to HDMI cable doesn't work tomorrow then maybe I should assume its a hardware fault on the monitor given all my drives and everything are up to date...
I'm using a HDMI to mini DP cable which worked fine on my old second monitor which is literally like over ten years old so I don't think that could be the issue. I've ordered a HDMI to HDMI already just because i'll need it for my work laptop, but the cable shouldn't be the issue.
And yes...
Hey,
I just got my new monitor delivered:
https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/asus-tuf-vg27aq-27-g-sync-1ms-hdr-gaming-monitor-vg27wq1b/version.asp
However, it registers as no signal when I connect it to my laptop? The irritating thing is that my laptop connects to it, I can even hover my mouse...
I see, so in that case my best option is to get a 1440p 144hz monitor, which would work fine as a secondary monitor on a 3080 card too since it won't be used for gaming. i.e. something like this...
Ahh I see, I figured that was the case. When you say 'wouldn't be able to run', as in it just won't utilise the screens hardware to the fullest right? Basically i'm just checking if this is fine to purchase and use for now, in anticipation that it will be running as a secondary monitor with the...
Hi,
I'm going to be getting a PC setup later early next year which will include a 3080 in the setup so i'm currently prepping for it. At the moment I use a laptop with a RTX2070 and a very old monitor as my secondary monitor i.e. I game on the laptop screen which is a 144hz monitor (vortex...
Likewise, for reference my laptop crashes at -150mv so i've kept it at -130mv. But potentially increasing the undervolt on the cores could be a good idea. For now my laptop is running very cool since underbolting. I've played League and it runs at roughly 60-65 degrees and then Borderlands 2...
Thanks for the link Spyder. I'm at work so i'll have a look when i'm home. The Vimeo free seemed to be a coincidence because even Twitch Streams also freeze when projected full screen on my second monitor. Just odd that only YouTube seems to work.
I am indeed using Chrome, i'll try a diff...
Hi, i've got a strange problem. I bought a Vortex IX in the past week and I use a second monitor so I have my default laptop screen plus the second monitor above it. If I want to play videos they work fine on the laptop screen, but if I drag a video to the second monitor, it also plays fine, but...
I received my Vortex last week and use Throttlestop to undervolt. Mine also came with a default -50 undervolt, however reading a thread somewhere else someone also had a vortex and they undervolted to -135 and that's what i've done myself and had no crashes at all.
Still seem to get fairly high...
I only just noticed that! Would have been a good test on the laptop I had to see if that was the case, but thanks for letting me know and i'll make sure to keep an eye out for this on my next model :)
Thanks that's really good to hear! I would be more than happy if I got at least two hours but I left my Proteus idle with nothing but chrome running with a stream and it lasted less than an hour so I thought that this was definitely not normal and looks like that is the case if yours at least...
Could you let me know what the battery life is on your Proteus? I Recently bought the Proteus but also had to return it because of the track pad as the right click button barely worked. But I also was very concerned with the battery as they battery life from full charge was less than an hour...
