Cables

I am happy to report that my new computer is up and running. I did however need to be advised to connect the monitor to the graphics card rather than the motherboard.
Both my computer and monitor have HDMI ports that are currently unconnected. When I buy a cable should I have both the HDMI and current DVI cables connected at the same time? ( I was advised not to have the DVI and VGA cables connected at the same time ).
Thanks in anticipation.

As far as I know (from reading stuff on these boards) the HDMI and DVI are basically the same thing, you only need one connected per monitor, so you''ll only need one cable.

no only one or the other. Depending on which port ur gfx card has.

Correct, some monitors you can select which input to use, others connecting both will result in no display.
