Can't delete backup of my old system.

Before a clean install PCS were kind enough to backup my old system. The only problem I have is that after picking through all the files I want, I am unable to delete the backup and receieve the following error:

"You require permission from SYSTEM to make changes to this folder"

It wouldn't bother me if it wasn't taking up all the space on my SSD, but I have programs I'm itching to install!

Thanks.

the file might be in a read only section on the drive you might need to go to the system properties and change it to read and write.

have you an option to tick"previous windows installations" if not
do you have an option In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, "Clean up system files"
If so select that, If you're prompted to choose a drive, click the drive you installed Windows on, and then click OK.
Select the Previous Windows installations check box, , and then click OK.

I had a similar problem and managed to find a solution - I think it is to do with Disk Ownership (I presume this is a windows 7 setup). Back up your files and then try the following:

Right click the drive in question >> Properties
Security tab >> Advanced at the bottom
Owner tab

I should imagine that it says the current owner is your SYSTEM gremlin. At the bottom, click on EDIT and then change the owner to you/your administrator.
Then apply changes and then try to delete the files. This should work.

Hope this helps.
