Right, enough messing, its getting ordered today, went for 2 x 2TB Barracudas over the 1 x 4TB ironwolf (not sure if is will need them but the second one only adds £30 or so to the build) the H150i Capellix has come back in so gone back to that.

Monitor is going to be an LG 27GL850-B (maybe another one at a later date if space allows) as kindly recommended by SCK451 further up the posts, currently less than £300 on a few sites

Any last minute tweaks as i don't really want to be messing post order ?

The most minor of tweaks, but the Intel 670p SSD is now the same price as the PCS one while being significantly faster, so if I were you I'd swap to that. I think the price differential between the 3070 and the Ti version is now bigger, which makes the Ti less compelling value, so I'd just check that. Otherwise it's looks like an amazing machine.

Cheers, 3070 Ti is £19 over the standard 3070, Ti gives a bit of a performance boost over 3070 so for £19 it's an easy decision.

Yep, Intel is price neutral for the PCS one so will swap to that

Yeah prices have dipped a little. 3060ti is under 600 now, the 3070ti is £720, was £800 a few days ago. With current prices worth it over the 3070. With the Intel m.2 switched in this looks good to go!

Thanks all. The order is in!

I have 20 odd days to sort the tip that is the spare room into something suitable for an office and worthy of having the PC in there....

OK, while i'm waiting i need to sort a keyboard and mouse out now, i have a cheap MS wireless set for home working but that's just not going to cut it

So any suggestions for a decent quality mechanical keyboard without breaking the bank, don't really want to spend more than £75, RGB is a bonus but not a requirement, wired is fine, don't need a number pad

Also I prefer wireless mice, any suggestions there ? Would prefer to keep it the same manufacturer as the keyboard purely for aesthetics, i'm a bit OCD with things like that

Second the K70, also a Razer Deathadder for the mouse. It's not wireless but you can get a mouse bungee that elevates the cord and makes it feel wireless

Not sure on Corsair mice to be honest unfortunately

OK asking the question here as some pretty over zealous moderation saw my question on another post about the very same subject deleted for hijacking which puzzled me, but hey ho, never mind.

So is an upgrade from 3200 to 3600mhz for £4 worth it on my build above? Anything to be gained?

A minimal amount. But for £4 it's a no-brainer: go for it.

OK, so i'm thinking of swapping to the 5000D Airflow, after consideration i'm not overly keen on the aesthetic of the 5000X, too much glass i think, can i get way with the standard fans in the 5000D or am i going to need to put some more fans in the front to keep things cool ?

Ideally i would like to try and get the case size down a bit but looks like a lot of them won't take the H150i radiator, even swapping to the H115i would limit case choice, or that's what the builder tells me anyway...

Thoughts ?

The Corsair H115i should fit into the 4000D but it wouldn't have as good cooling

I believe the 5000D comes with one less fan and none of them are RGB. Whereas the 5000X comes with more fans plus RGB, I believe it's also a slightly better quieter fans in the 5000X. You could always just buy a 5000D airflow front panel for a £15 off Corsair and keep the 5000X plus the better fans?

Not much I can recommend about the size though, I think with the quality of the components you are putting in I would want a larger case just to help with passive cooling. Cramming that stuff into a small case will get hot.

Cheers, yeah, i had a play around and getting the 3070Ti and the H150i in anything seems tight, is the top panel the same on the 5000D/X too, haven't seen that listed anywhere ?

Yeah it's the same case only difference is the fans and the front panel I believe

think the 5000x has glass on all sides including top, 5000D is just the left side that’s glass, think I’m going to swap to 5000D and see how temps are with stock fans then add some RGB ones to front if required

Definitely a good option. I have the 275R Airflow (a generation earlier but many similar principles) and have done the fan change you describe. Three SP120 Elites with a Node Core or whatever it's called are about £50.

Did you just use the PWM splitter that comes with the case for fan control then add the iCUE node for RGB ?

Somebody stop me !

I dropped one of the 2TB HDD out and changed to the 5000D Airflow as the 5000X was too much glass for my liking, was planning on using the saving to add a third M.2 drive on a PCIe adapter to use as a media import/export drive but now i have just requested 3xRGB fans for the front of the 5000D to keep things cool and a add bit of bling !

It’s not a good thing having the option to change things, still touch and go for a 3080 over a 3070Ti for some extra grunt in editing, I think I need help….
