Expert check on first time build

Hi all,

First time builder here and wanted some people with a lot more knowledge than myself to check my below build to see if i have gone over board or under on any areas.

I am going to be mainly using this for gaming large strategy games such as total war and want to run the current and future games at ultra graphics with no issues for years to come. any input is greatly apreciated thanks.

I'll wait on those response before I try to config something, but I think I'm safe to say that most on here would recommend a build based on an AMD 7800x3D. It's the gaming CPU of the moment, equally fast, but uses up to 3x less power for the same performance...and thus produces much less heat whilst doing so. It's also on a new platform, so there's room to pop in the next-gen or next-but-one-gen x3D CPU when you feel the need.

You'll also want a enthusiast/gaming PSU rather than an office/productivity PSU (for easier upgrading, higher quality components, higher efficiency).

The RAM is too slow, you'll need 6000MHz to make the most out of the faster CPUs.

Here's a build based on the current AMD AM5 platform, which has a few generations of upgrades in front of it (the last platform supported 4 generations). The GPU is probably overkill for 1080p, so you could trim the budget a little there if needed.

Here's a lower budget option, based on the Total War requirements, as I believe AMD trounce Nvidia in that particular title. However, the AMD GPUs are not as good in ray-tracing or VR, so your other gaming requirements may push you towards Nvidia (but then you could save by going for the 4070 Super instead of the Ti version, or even a 7600XT for 1080p to save more).
