Also whats the wait for a 3090 over a 3080ti? I'm assuming because of the price and little performance increase the 3080 may be longer?

Hi there! We'll need some more info before we give any advice

1) What's your budget?
2) What will you be using the system for?
3) What monitors will you be using? (either make and model or resolution and refresh rate) I see you have a monitor in your build, would this be the only one, or would you have others? And would it be included in your budget?

Oh, and to answer your questions about wait times, if the card doesn't have a "pre-order" tag next to it, it should be the standard wait is says at the bottom if the configurator

I'd also highly recommend a read of this. Intel is currently suffering, it's a long way behind AMD's offerings for just about every use case. The X299 chipset I've assumed you're using here (as it's an X processor) is also many many years old.

Budget was 5k. Will be used for gaming and It'll just be the 1 monitor.

From what you suggested I took the I9 out and replaced it with the Ryzen 9 5950x

I've also dropped the 3090 for the 3080TI. From what I can see the performance isn't that much better for the extra 500 squid or so.

Still hits 5k but the CPU seems to be loads better so thanks for the recommendation.

The 5900x will out perform the 5950x in gaming for example. The 5950x is amazing for editing, rendering, etc though so it all depends on what the machine is for

We still don't know what this machine is for so it's hard to offer advice. Also knowing what monitor you plan to use will definitely help us make recommendations

This should be beast of a PC

The 5000X is an incredible case and our favourite top end case here although the H500 you had originally looks like it should suffice if you prefer it. As @Steveyg the 5950X is really a workstation CPU designed for multi core Workflows (which gaming isnt) you’ll get better performance out the 5900X for less money. For RAM, 64GB is pointless, and 32GB is still rather overkill, you could swap to 16GB and still have a perfectly enjoyable experience. Also gone for RGB, you can switch to non-RGB if you’d prefer. Good choice on GPU, the 3090 is really a workstation card, the 3080TI will handle any gaming you throw at it. For storage, AMD supports PCIe Gen 4, so now there’s a 500GB OS and programs drive, then a dedicated 2TB M.2 SSD for games and a 2TB HDD for general files as these don’t gain anything by being on SSD. For the best temps, and for fantastic aesthetic, the H150i Capellix is a great cooler choice and the ML fans are known to be quiet (as I noticed you went for quiet fans on the previous cooler). I’ve added in the AX200 WiFi card but it can be removed if you use Ethernet. I’ve removed the anti virus as it’s known to cause issues and the silver warranty is well worth the fiver.

for monitors, there’s really only one choice for a build at this budget. The Samsung G9

Bloody hell that monitor is like a spaceship
It’s absolutely insane. I could only imagine playing some racing games on it

I'd love it but the wife would stab me if I had that in the living room so it may have to be the suggested monitor. I would have chosen the 37 inch Asus but that won't fit either

That’s a shame! If you’re going for a 3080TI and not the G9, I’d highly suggest going for a 4K 144hz monitor (if you can get your hands on one) otherwise the GPU won’t be used to it’s full potential. Either that, or you could go for a lesser GPU that would be a better fit for a monitor that fits in your space?

Can always be a later addition. For now the PC will be in the front room(Which was a stretch to get her to agree to that) But in a couple years I should have a spare room in the house. I could then set up a G9 there. I'll stick with everything you suggested and go for the ASUS XG27AQ 27" G-Sync ROG Strix. Sell that later and grab a G9

In a few years there will likely be something much better than the G9 mate, I'd say if your sticking with the 27" ASUS you'd be better served with a 3070, you'll not see much benefit of the 3080 there.

In a few years when you get the chance to change you'll likely be upgrading the GPU anyways so a monitor and GPU together then would be better. Save some cash now to plan for a future upgrade makes the most sense, your call though

Defo see what you are saying.

From the list of monitors available on this site, What would you recommend?
