Just for gaming

Hi,

I have a strict budget of £1000 for a decent gaming rig, I have spent alot of time configuring and re configuring my spec and I have come to this decision after a long arduous battle with my inner self to just make a decision!!!

I have no use for a card reader and I have many many dvd rewriters from a graveyard of old pc's.

All thoughts are appreciated.

Get rid of the copy of windows and bump up the ram to 12GB. I know people will be saying whats the point but you can "accquire" copies of windows for nothing.

If I were confident enough i'd put linux on there but for compatability i'd much rather have 7 and i'd like to have a legit copy.

12gb is unnecessary especially as Ram is due to yet again fall in price following the imminent increase in 8gb modules. Nonlegit windows is illegal please do not discuss this on these forums, thankyou. Id suggest getting the 1Gb gtx 460, 2gb version is only really of use to people with VERY high resolutions, e.g. 2000x1000 or more. You could either get 1g. gtx 460 or 1gb gtx 465

I have rolled back to a 1Gb Gtx460 due to it draws less power and generate less heat than the Gtx 465

This has brought the price down £25, nice one

You don't really need the titan fenrir cooler either, could remove that and upgrade the graphics card to an AMD 6870 for better performance in games.

Please do not suggest using illegal copies of Windows .......
For one, its against the rules of the forums I believe
And two, you don't really want any to find out the wrath of the forum administrators/moderators

Pc Specialist in no way encourages or condones the use of pirated software. Non-genuine Windows can lead to an unstable system which is far more likely to have security flaws than a genuine copy with regular updates. We cannot and will not support such systems.

Any machine returned for repair with a pirated version of Windows is wiped, if the problem it has been returned for is found to be software related the customer is also charged for the repair.

As far as value in a system goes, genuine windows is worth every penny of the £70-80 it costs.

If you pre-ordered Windows 7 when it first was released - it cost as little as £35.

This is a very nice spec, will run most games out for now, and the next year or two.
