Laptop for Work/Gaming

Hi people,

Will be getting this Laptop in the next week if all goes well. Tell me what you think/ Any improvements. I'd like to stick to the £810 budget or thereabouts, unless its a ridiculously good upgrade!

i will be using this laptop mostly for Uni work, so word/internet/some mathsey programmes.

For any of you who have this laptop/ or more specifically a 15.6 incher, would you say that is the right screen size for someone like me? I.e. Need to carry it around to lectures/ put it on desk in evening or something. Because the optimus 17 inch has a gt555m graphics card! Would a 17 incher be too big for carrying often? Would be doing mostly RTS's like Anno and the newer total war, plus perhaps some left 4 dead/ COD. Is a gt540m up to that task?
And last question (yeah i know!), is it worth asking for the matte screen? Or is the glossy one ok, i.e. not too much glare, especially in a well lit room like lecture theatre? And would it get loud if I just plonked it on my desk, because I don't really want to get a stand!

southampton lectures are dead quiet and most lecturers go: "look at this technological age, everyone has their macbooks out!" At this point I go green, then nlue, then a pale pink and finally red with rage....

I would go for the matte screen for use in bright places and outside etc....
this is relying on PCS actually deciding to incorporate them

I would also go 15.6" for portability :)

Would you think the matte screen would kinda be a bummer for colour production? I know it affects it, but its not too much is it? And that website annoys me. I never know what resolution they have it at? Obviously low/medium/high graphics settings, but what res? + rep :)

I think it is slightly different for each game

in Metro 2033's case :

We change the Quality preset and set Antialiasing on AAA (lowest setting) and Anisotrope Filtering (AF) on 4x.

Not much to say about it, RAM is fine, CPU is fine, the best mobility 500 series chipset is indeed the 555M, id go for it, considering it is already quite a low end chip, the 540M will probably struggle with games.

There are no higher end mobility chips out to date.

But the enigma III does not have it as an option :(. I would if I could. Plus do you think a matte screen is best?
