Looking at a new PC, but unsure what to get..

I believe it has space for 1 fan at the top.

It does fit the H100i V2. The configurator says so. It would go at the front, with one of the two fans currently there going to the top mounting spot, and the other presumably being lost. But that shouldn't be a problem.

I think its the black and blue case that PCS offer which already comes with a fan in the top looking at the specs on their website?

https://www.nzxt.com/products/s340-black-blue

Do you think there would be enough cooling with one fan at the front, one in the top mounting spot and one at the rear if went with the H100i?

Cheers Oussebon :)

PCS say it has 2 in the front and 1 in the rear.
Fans
2 x front 120mm case fans
1 x rear 120mm case fan
https://www.nzxt.com/products/s340-black-blue
The stock fan config from NZXT is apparently 1 in the roof, 1 at the rear, and none in the front. Possibly on the assumption that people will fit water coolers there anyway.

It has 4 mounting points .https://www.nzxt.com/products/s340-black-blue The H100i V2 would take up both front ones (240mm radiator). PCS would presumably relocate one of the front fans to the roof mount and you'd lose the other.

But yes, I'm sure that would be fine. It's perfectly common for AIO water coolers to get mounted at the front of cases.

Thanks Oussebon, I really like the case as it has a smaller form factor, and seems a bit more spacious than the Fractal Define C. Would you go with the Noctua and have 2 front fans, 1 in roof, and 1 rear, or would you go with the Corsair and lose a fan?

The H100i does itself have 2 fans, so what I said above about "losing" a fan only applies to the number of stock case fans rather than the total number of fans the system has. :) Sorry if what I said before gave the wrong impression.

I'd probably go with the Noctua as the cooling is fine, it's £50 cheaper, and you don't get hot air off the CPU cooler's radiator blowing over the GPU. And I'd probably stick with the case's stock 3 fan config.

Thanks Oussebon :)

Might have changed my mind with the case I was going to go for after seeing the NZXT H440 MID-TOWER BLACK/RED GAMING CASE.

What do you think of this case? It has a lot of fans as standard, but just wondering what you would go with out of this and the Define S?

Personally I'd go with the Define S. If you like the H440 black/red aesthetic then I think the NZXT Noctis 450 is apparently a bit better for cooling.

I've no idea. There's a game max falcon case on Amazon with fixed colour fans where some customers say that it is possible, apparently by turning the fans to a lower speed. However, as with most info in Amazon customer comments, it's contradicted by other statements. And I can't say if it applies to the RGB LED fans on this model either.

You may want to phone PC Specialist and ask them.

Worst case scenario you can just change the fans yourself - fit some nice Noctua / be quiet! / Corsair ones.

Do you think the Game Max case would be a better option than the NZXT S340? :)

I think they're both fine. I'd say the choice is mainly on aesthetics and features rather than performance.

Just seen PCS are now offering 3600MHz RAM in the configurator, do you think its worth the price difference over the 3200MHz? :)

Hi again,

Well I held off pulling the trigger for a bit longer and I noticed you can now order a system with the Intel i7-7740x.

Would you say its worth going for an overclocked system with this CPU, would it be more future proof? Also what sort of cooler would be best as it seems overclock is 5Ghz?

Cheers

Andrew
