Need advice on planned build.

Hi all,

Any advice welcome here. First time planning a build. I've done my best but would appreciate help from the pros.

Looking to play VR (Alyx), Red Dead 2, MS Flight Sim.

Is anything overkill or is anything not good enough? How's the cooling?

We'll need some info before we give any advice. 1) Budget 2) the Monitor you plan to use (either make and model or resolution and refresh rate) and is it a monitor you already own or is it part of the budget? 3) You said gaming, do you plan to stream too?

Oh and the configurable link at the bottom of the post to forum page is very helpful too

Hey @JoshB91 would you be able to give us this info before we make any recommendations?

I'm not overly fussed about 4k. 1440 at 120 refresh rate would be ideal.

I'm also planning to play VR (Alyx), Red Dead, MS flight sim.

Basically 1440p and 60fps minimum.

Sorry I'm unsure about the configurable link?

@JoshB91 - Please cease starting a new thread each time you wish to post a build, just update the one you already have open.

It'd also be helpful if you could read the following thread and provide us with the information it suggests that you post in order for people to best advise. Thanks.

it's all detailed in this post here

Apologies. As a newbie some rules or advice went a little unnoticed. I should now have included this in the post above
I don't seem to see any updates. Not sure if that's only me.

The info we need:
1) Budget
2) Monitor, you've said what you'd like game at, although it seems a little all over the place so some confirmation/ a decsion on that would be nice. Also do you need a monitor included in that budget or do you already have one? Would you like some recommendations maybe?
3) if you'd like to try again with the link
4) A lot of people look for a PC that can stream their games, is this something you'd be interested in too?

Try putting this info in a new post in this thread and we can go from there

Budget: £2000 (5% over is ok)
Monitor (i've been clear in saying 1440p. I'd like the monitor budget to be around £300 120 hrtz. HDR if that fits within budget.
I'm not sure on brand, maybe you could suggest something around my price point?

Streaming games? Maybe? Depends if that would make the budget go past what it is already at?

I need as much help or advice as you can give. So any recommendations welcome.

We'll need the configurable link as well, it's all outlined in these posts, you really need to read them before continuing:

For this I've gone slightly over your 5% buffer but feel it's worth it

For gaming the Ryzen 7 5800X and 3070 is a great combo. The 3070 will comfortably run a 1440p 144hz monitor and will manage VR too. As you plan to play MSFS I've upped to 32GB of RAM. For storage I've given you a gen 4 m.2 for your Windows, a 1TB SSD for games and programs then 2TB HDD for general files. The RM850 will power the system comfortably and allow for upgrades down the line. The anti-virus has been knwon to cause issues and the Silver warranty is well worth the £5

That could be the one! Thank you.

Any suggestions for a monitor? I don't really know how much a 144 1440p monitor would cost
