Hi

As most of us I am excited about the new 3 series and has put my built (or my order with PCS more like) on hold. A built that I have been thinking about for a while now.

What do we think that the lead times on getting one will be? To get one in our hands (or PCS), because I bet the order list is going to be pretty long.

Is there a chance that at least when they come out the value of the 2000 series will drop so say the price of a 2080T will be more in line with the humanity's needs?

I emailed PC specialist as I'm in the same boat and ordered a PC, was tempted to put it on hold and wait but they said that I would have to manually go in on release day and add the 3080 to my build, there would also be no guarantee I would get it that day depending on their orders and amount of stock.

In the end I just chose for them to build it and order it someplace else then add it to the PC myself.

@Scott will like these, lots of firestrike scores!

What’s your take on it, Scott?

If those are absolutely legit then it's exactly what we have been waiting for. Firestrike can be all but ignored now as that's more my archaic way of diagnosing what's what. The real test for more modern cards is Time Spy (And Port Royal I guess).

In that regard the 3080 is 1/3rd more powerful than the 2080 Ti and almost 70% more powerful than the 2080S. That's a VERY substantial jump and much more than the 40%ish that was expected. The scores are purely graphics based as well so that's basically RAW GPU performance in real world.

For me the most interesting aspect, and something that I was very wary of believing, is the bump in performance when DLSS AND RTX is enabled. Over 100FPS on Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 4k with everything switched on???? Yes please! Interestingly that's a 45% increase which is more in line with the proposed 40% increase. FarCry I notice is 50%.

4K gaming is officially here, no doubt about it. I would include the Super Ultrawide 1440p's in this sort of thinking as it's going to be a fairly similar performance. 120hz+ required on the Super Ultrawides so the G9 has the future covered for sure.

There are going to be games way over 144hz at 4k with the 3080.

I think in this instance, and this is probably the first time I’ve ever said this, it’s absolutely safe to order before 3rd party reviews are out.

I’m completely believing of nvidia claims now are wholly accurate.

It’s just mind boggling how powerful these cards are!

I am moving up from a 1050ti, which has been struggling with alot of things I've been throwing at it. The performance increase is crazy even from the 2X series to the 3X. I have no doubt they will release a 3080ti version though as there is a nice price point to slot into between the 3080 and 3090

The TI will definitely come along, not before probably December though, they’ll wait to see what AMD have to offer.

Absolutely. The card will already exist and its performance will already be set. What remains to be seen is the price which will no doubt be determined by the AMD pricing and how they perform :D

I’m quietly optimistic about RX6000’s, I firmly believe AMD are going to surprise people.

Here's hoping. Can only do good things for my wallet! Hopefully all driver issues are sorted and they have gotten somewhere with the power requirements. The 3000 from Nvidia is a power sap.... no doubt.... but man does it give performance per watt.

There's just tooo much healthy competition going on at the moment, in consoles, PC Graphics, CPU's, and even top tier foldable phones...... I open my phone and get bombarded with updates on these new features and leaks.... It's a little overwhelming!

"Thank you for getting in touch with ourselves. You will still have time to change to a 3080, our builds would normally take around a day or 2. Once the card officially releases on the 17th, you will be able to amend the order from then on. Please note, this will be on a first come first serve basis for the new GPUs. Sadly, the second option would not be fulfilled as we are also waiting for the 3080 stock to be released by the suppliers on the 17th."

Very confusing email off support today after sending them an email to delay the build a few days. Does that mean they're worried about stock?

I'd ordered mine a week ago, figuring it would be built after the 17th so plenty of time to amend my order. Right?

Nah, they've only gone and sped up, first email with wednesday built date and the latest email has it being built on monday. That moment when you don't want exceptional service, right? Still, really looking forward to the new build, even if I do have to get a card and fit it myself. Hopefully I can upgrade the build to a 3080 without too much hassle.

Haha, I have no worries about "swapping" the card, I've ordered it without a card (but still with a 750W PSU, even if it told me I didn't need it). If I end up having to wait a while for a 3080 though, I'll just put my 980 in from my current rig. Just won't be able to crank up the settings so much until I get one.

Looks like the 3060 ti will also be launching soon.

Bang for buck, this is likely THE card for those not wanting 4K gaming.

realistically, this is likely the card I will upgrade my current GTX 1060 6GB with.

Will be interesting to see how it compares in real world reviews against the other cards.

Along lines of you can only play The Witcher at 120fps rather that 160fps on a 27” 1440 using ultra settings.

@Gavras...perhaps you wouldn't mind telling that to all those people buying a 3080 for a 1080p/1440p system? Way too many people just decide on what sounds nice (ooohh...a shiny 3080? It's the second most powerful one...i must have that for my 720p system ) rather than doing research...so many people with an actual need for a 3080 are going to be disappointed.

No doubt Nvidia are more than happy that Jonny gets his mum to buy a 3080 for his 1080p monitor, bragging rights ain’t it.

I wonder how many either use a card to it’s full potential or would notice the difference between a 3080, 3070, 3060 while playing their favourite game on a 1080 or 1440.

my 1060 manages The outer Worlds and a number of other games on a mix of Ultra Custom, the latter being crucial, it’s pretty well known some settings eat frame rate for very little return outside a benchmark test.

Gamers Nexus tweeted earlier about being told to hold back but they must have had one already and are using the extra time to do additional testing..

If any of his other reviews are anything to go by we're in for a treat on Wed.

I assumed that we'd be able to order at 12 tonight based on conversations I've had with PCS customer support
