RTX 3070 Strix

Hey Everyone,

I haven’t seen a thread for a while regarding 3070 build updates. What’s everyone’s current status?

I am currently on day 40 of pre-production.

Thanks

3070’s are usually much quicker than that. It may be something else holding up your build. Can you post your spec?

Yeah can do. I had called on about 27 working days to check everything was ok and I was informed it was the GPU.

I had upgraded to the Strix around that point but I had seen people getting 3070 Strix in less than 20 days.

I will dig out my specs now, I was also informed they had enough Ryzen 5000s at the time to fulfil current orders.

I honestly can’t see the point of a 3070 strix, it costs the same as a 6800XT the last i checked and that card absolutely crushed the 3070 strix. I’d drop it to a regular 3070 and your build will likely go into building asap

There is a 3070 thread, builds are normally done within 15 days or so.

Any Strix card is like gold dust, there's a significantly longer wait.

The 3070 thread is here: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/foru...ng-to-upgrade-build.74397/page-47#post-597326

I think no ones posted for a while because builds are going through so quick now.

But the 3070 Strix is a very different card and should not be considered the same wait time as a normal card.
Yeah I’d been following that thread and as you point out no one has posted for a while, hence why I started a new one.

I am aware of the Strix situation, I just thought I’d ask the question to gauge people’s positions.

If i had to make a guess, i’d say you’d be lucky to get it in the next 2 months

I might call tomorrow and see what the options are regarding a 6800xt Speedster Merc.

it’s not a card I am overly familiar with. My inclination toward the Strix 3070 was for a few reasons, one being the outperformance with DLSS. Something I presumed would continue to grow on the Nvidia side.

However, that being said. I do intend to game titles like total war etc which I believe are better suited to the 6800xt. I also plan to stream and sometimes video edit, which again I believe goes in the favour of the 6800xt.

Edit: Gaming in 1440p 144hz FYI

The 6700XT would be the comparison to the RTX 3070, the 6800XT would be more the 3080 in performance.

The 6800XT wouldn't be very well suited to 1440p, it's a 4k card.

AMD are also very close to releasing their own form of DLSS: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/foru...lityfx-super-resolution-answer-to-dlss.81041/

Just to update anyone that is interested. I’m currently on 62 working days now pre-production.

now my thoughts more turn toward whether to upgrade, simply because if I’ve waited this long why not wait 100 days (potentially) and get a 3080.

Granted the monitor I purchased was initially 144hz 1440p but in a year or so I may upgrade. Additionally most of the comparisons I have been watching still show the 3080s / 6800xt’s having significant performance gains at 1440p. Or am I nitpicking and in reality the difference between playing something like cyberpunk at 65fps and 80fps is negligible.

Yes I am aware that FPS isn’t the be all and end all to the experience. Just looking for anyone’s steer / other people’s wait times ideally (curiosity).

For anyone that’s interested after 75 working days my machine is now in building.

Friday I received a phone call explaining that it would of been in building then except... they couldn’t find my case. So maybe a shout out to those that have sent in cases.

I did call early last week and they did tell me they’d received a delivery and were working through some orders.

hope this helps
