56 working days in (as of today) and when spoke to PCS they were hoping for this week build maybe next week, they were confident all parts for my build would be in, but as it is I'll just take that with a pinch as its carnage out there. I will do a weekly check in via email for update on build until they say otherwise.

TBH got to the point where the priority is the PC I've purchased for the son (no 3080....thankfully) all stock available as of a week ago so praying his comes before mine as its his xmas present, mines is just and old gamer moving to the PC master race lol

Only thing that is really bugging me is the 29" picture my PS4 is putting on my new Samsung G9 'sigh'
You, your PC and the G9 will have some serious bonding to look forward to. You’re going to be such a happy family 👍

Hi!.. Right, new here, so please don't bite my head off :) Just wanted to point out a couple issues I find, interestingly frustrating..

Firstly, the lack of transparency in regards to stocks.. We all know and appreciate the demand. I think you would have to be mad to be annoyed about not getting GPU in this day and age. This is granted. However, unlike the competition, PCS, keeps the stock information way too close to their chest. Without having to find workaround like some other people I have seen in this forum, there is no real way of knowing how long one might wait for. This is a bit mad.. Yes, some companies have different deals which may grant them more information in regards to what kind of stock is incoming compared to other companies, but, if you are running a company, you at least should have some idea, some information from the supplier in regards to your incoming inventory. Which then could be shared with your customers for transparency sake. Then we may feel a little more involved and at least have a number to look forward to. Just like in the customer services call waiting.. " You're 20th in the queue".. Bloody long wait, but happy to.. Because at least I know where I stand.

Secondly, the incoming AIB models. Now, when you try to put a system together, you have 2 options. ASUS Strix 3080 or an X-Brand 3080. Now this is also a little frustrating. Some customers may not want a Zotac or a Palit or iChill..etc. Again, I realise, some companies work differently. However, these are enthusiast level tech parts. We all know the pros and cons of each and every card. Being stuck in between an X-Brand, possibly a hotter, slower card and a very fast, cool, well built but impossible to get card. We already play lottery with the wafer and the silicon, taking this to a whole different level with an X-Brand card is kind of upsetting.

Also, the lack of ASUS TUF GAMING OC 3080 cards. It is known that ASUS is pumping these cards out like hell. Everywhere I look, everyone who got one has a TUF Gaming card. If PCS didnt deal with ASUS, I would totally understand but give the fact that they do, the lack of the TUF Gaming cards is again, upsetting, simply because they are being shipped to the UK unlike the Strix...

I am only on day 15. Thats three weeks. Unlike some other veterans here who are on days 50+ I am still at the very early stages of waiting. Yet again, thats 3 weeks of my life, waiting, without knowing if there is an end to this. No clarity. No communication. Having to wait 1 hour + on the phone to get a very little bit of information (which I had to do only thrice thankfully) on something that I actually need for work.

My criticism is the lack of communication, the lack of information, clarity and transparency. Rest of the stuff I whine about is completely dependant on how PCS does business. Simple queue information, stock information or incoming inventory information would go such a long way..

Now, again, I understand. I understand the tremendous stress the customer services are under. The demand, the stock, the shortages and last but by no means least COVID. It isn't easy. All I am asking is transparency and communication. Thats all. Hopefully this is clear.

*This is my first order from PCS. I've read amazing things about the company and how they build their systems. I made sure I was in good hands before handing over £2500. And I still think I will get a well built, well optimised system. However, I did hand out £2500 like many of us here. And I expect a little more in terms of transparency and customer service. We all had to change our way of work or way of life due to changes in our day to day life with COVID. I think it is fair to expect a company to do the same in regards to customer care. Not just change internally, but externally also..

*To take on the examples of our politicians, allow me to share an analogy :) Think of a lovely holiday you are about to go on to, the destination, beaches, bars..etc. may be amazing but if the travel company book you an airline that wont even serve you water and charge you an arm and a leg for a carry-on, or the hotel they book you in is awful, you are left with those memories and unlikely to take that airlines, stay in that hotel or use that travel company ever again. Even though the destination they take you is amazing..

Let's hope ASUS get's it together and we all run to leave this horrid year behind while playing Cyberpunk and rendering on Cinebench :)

Happy holidays everyone..

Now this is a very reasonable post written in a well though out manner. The key difference here is that we've paid up front so some information is very reasonable even with all the mitigating circumstances.

If you go to other sites and their actual PC build site you only get a couple of options for the 3080 GPUs, one site has TUF and Evga, another has a random one and MSI.
PCS happen to have the Strix and random one.

Yes you can buy whatever you want if you are just buying a GPU from some of these sites but PCS just do full builds and upgrades as far as I know.

Pretty sure the majority don't have queues in place for full builds, GPU purchases they do but then a queue system for those are much easier.

Nicely put post though, don't think I'm having a go, just pointing some things out but fell free to point me in the right direction if some of the above is wrong.

Hi there, I'm new too.

I can only imagine that PCS is keeping numbers a bit secretive simply to discourage unscrupulous customers who plan to create extremely low end machines with high end cards. Sell all the parts off and mark up the 3080 etc.. If they don't know how many cards PCspecialist gets then they will maybe be less likely to try to bot-order out everything. But that's a random theory, there is no proof of that statement. Unfortunately this PC was my budget from the money I've saved from not commuting to work, so It's not like I can attempt to buy a card separately, as this PC is already putting me at my limit. Although I must admit... may increase storage capacity...

No, your wrong. Take a look at the Scan website. The only card they have for sale is a PNY 3090, and it's been like that since day 1. They also have an update page (link on the homepage) that shows that there are continuing delays to many cards, particularly the Asus TUF cards. This is a major retailer also struggling to get stock months after launch.

Wait I’m not understanding Strix or random one, I’ve ordered the 10GB Nvidia RTX 3080 does that mean I might not end up with the Nvidia one and could end up with a random one?

It will be a NVidia card, it will not be the ASUS Rog Strix one though as it sounds like you did not select that one (its more expensive).
An ASUS ROG Strix 3080 card is one branded by ASUS and ROG Strix is their model name and it is a 3080

It will probably be a Zotac or Palit branded card (as those are the ones PCS normally use), but it is still mostly definitely a NVidia 3080.

I suspect he might have been expecting a founders edition.

Sorry random was the wrong word, it was late and I had just had my own PC scare so head wasn't right couldnt think of the right saying.
See above post from Rakk, he explains it better

NVIDIA CFO presented at the UBS Technology Conference yesterday. Here is a snip from the summary:

<snip>
Near-term, NVDA continues to face supply constraints similar to others (MRVL, etc..) that includes not only wafer and substrate capacity, but more recently leading edge test and assembly capacity. This should start to normalize over the next few months but channel inventory also remains very low in gaming and the RTX 30 Series ramp is still very early innings. NVDA  is having more discussions w/channel partners in a collective effort to determine how much, if any, of current strong RTX Series 30 demand is crytpo-driven (predominantly Ethereum).
<snip>

The last point caught my eye. Looking at the Ethereum price chart, it is up 3x since June. BitCoin has doubled over the same time. With graphics cards key components in crypto-mining we may also have competition from the crypto-miners. And with prices up over the last few months, they can pay top dollar and still make a profit.

very true, but at least they update daily, even if it is to say delays.

I didn't mention Scan or Overclockers or any other retailer.
I simply stated two facts;
1) Everyone I talk to either has a TUF or a MSI card (Granted, I did not mention this to make a point). I would say 40% / 60%
2) TUF is arriving into UK, but Strix ?

I understand the need to say "No, you're wrong" but 100 cards arriving into UK from TUF is still more than 0 cards arriving into UK.

And again, I didn't mention any retailers. That was simply because when asked, if where the card was bought from, the answers were mixed. Scan and Overclockers are big, but they are not the only companies who import goods into the country.
