I have both positive and negative feedback on DPD for this particular delivery.

Positive:
Kept the tracking fairly updated.
Arrived exactly on 7:17AM, which was the start of the one hour window.
The Driver never had a bad attitude or anything.

Negative:
The Driver was speaking on a headset while bringing the boxes over, therefor quite distracted.
He decided to carry both the monitor box and the computer box over at the same time, so only had ahold of the computer box within one of the hand slots, so the package was actually on its side - He placed the screen down, but then as placing the computer down with one hand still, the box suddenly torn (Not completely, but enough for the next bit to happen) and dropped toward the floor, though luckily it was only about an inch from the floor already.
I opened the door so he could bring the computer box in, but instead he left it mostly outside of the door, I looked over the box with no signs of any damage that I could see, besides where the box torn, thereafter signing and before I had a chance to ask if he could just bring it a bit further in to the hall, he was off and getting in the van.

--------------

I was a bit paranoid by that point, what with his sharpish retreat. So I brought the boxes in to the living room and was half-scared to open and check everything was right - But soon after checked it thoroughly enough to see that the warning tape was intact and the box was well sealed and proceeded to open it.

I was quite annoyed that in the past I've ordered things like clothing online and they've been delivered by DPD, of which were handled more carefully than an expensive set of technological items! Not to mention it was the same delivery driver too, funnily enough. In the past I've had a not so bad experience, having several or more deliveries, but with careless handling of something a lot more expensive than just about everything I've ordered and had delivered by them altogether, they've dropped in respect by some amount.

Hey Sted, was this recent?

If I were you, I'd send a complaint email to PCS about DPD.

I've had to complain about DPD before, ordered the missus an optimus and the driver didnt even knock on the door but simply handed the parcel to two "kids/workmen" in the empty house next door. I was lucky enough to get it back.

But yea def send PCS an email of Complaint, no point complaining to dpd ya probablys wont get a reply. Atleast PCS will complain to DPD.

Yeah, it was just days ago when they brought the rig. I would have left those comments earlier, but with the computer and installing some things, having to do so many other things, never had a chance to write it up to be atleast half coherent until a bit before I posted. lol

Will do on the complaint. I think PCS run a great service, but they should probably drop DPD, not just because of my reasons mentioned, but I have read a few comments here about them and what they did with yours is ridiculous - I think people who have a negative view on PCS may have them put there by a bad experience with DPD delivering their goods. :/ I'm not sure what PCS' stance is on changing courier, but I think UPS would be a good one to go for, DPD seem careless at times, and mostly the wrong times such as delivering expensive computers. :S

Problem is Sted, whilst all you have said is true, we had the exact same topic here about Yodel (albeit not nicely packaged up in one thread) before PCS used DPD. End of the day, no courier is perfect and PCS are never going to be able to guarantee a perfect service unless they delivered them personally (be a bit costly that...).

Best thing to do is let PCS know, because DPD are theirs to deal with and its in their interests to do just that. What won't help or solve anything is dropping them, because we'll be back here shortly after with complaints/concerns about UPS/DHL/FedEx or whatever :)

Actually, best thing to do is enjoy your new PC and shuffle thoughts of the delivery to the back of you mind (after telling PCS ofc) :D

Good point! I hadn't thought that much on it and didn't really know anything much on previous courier(s), though I think I did see something about that one quite a while back on here, but too vague to remember what I read exactly.

And I have to wait for the Homeplugs to come back in stock and be sent out, not sure I can put it to the back of my mind just yet. :S Haha

Before I send the Email to PCS if anyone knows, is there any usual format to such a complaint, reference number in the subject etc?

Problem is Yodel/hdnl are on a whole other level than even DPD. They specialize in ruining peoples day. Tin pot outfit that have lost packages of mine and thousands other people from numerous sources nationwide. And when companies like Amazon , Littlewoods and Disney use couriers like that to save a buck , we don't have much choice.

I think DED is spot on here. To be honest, I think there's been a lot less complaints about DPD than there was about Yodel.

Informing PCS about any delivery issues will at least let PCS give DPD a little nudge and say they are doing a good job overall, but can they just remind the drivers that they are carrying some expensive kit that should be handled carefully, and kept upright when necessary.

Sounds like sted's driver may have been having an off day, or was just trying to make up some time by carrying too much at one time (no excuse though).

I also have positives and negatives.

Pros: the time slot is always accurate for me (I deal with Dpd a bit at work as well)
Normally pretty polite..

However. Was supposed to send back my pc today, had it all booked in and the driver came, on time, takes one look at the box and days "can't fit it in mate, here's the number you have to ring to get it rearranged for tomorrow" now this for me was a bit of a pain as I had to spend the next 10 mins of my work day on the phone to dpd (and they have the most annoying dial tone ever - quiet ringing and then a really loud message alternating - if I had had to take time off work to have the box collected I would have gone mad. As it was we had to have this massive box hanging around our office all day getting in the way of stuff..
Not a major issue but pretty stupid that they should be having issues like that.

I have nothing but good things to say about DPD, have had 4-5 high value items from them in the last year or so (including my PCS desktop which I got yesterday), and they've been nigh on perfect every time.

I think DPD are very good. I like they way they send you a text/email to let you know on what day they plan to deliver and then on that day they email/text again with a time window of one hour, and from my experience they are usually within that hour.

So this is my experience with DPD so far: I paid that bit extra for delivery before noon specifically because I hate waiting in for parcels. My order was dispatched from PC Specialist on Wednesday 12th of June. Got plenty of emails from PC Specialist / DPD regarding the parcel being collected, etc. In particular a great email from the Predict service saying bold as brass "Your order will be delivered 13 June."

Thursday morning and I use the tracking service from DPD. Date and time: 13 June 2013 08:43 Location: Aberdeen (I'm in Aberdeen so not far to go!) Description: Confirmed at depot. Your parcel is going out for delivery.

Good stuff, I twiddle my thumbs and try not to peek out the front door every five minutes. Except at 11:30ish I check the tracking and the bit I've put in bold up there has disappeared... I guess it's just at the depot now.

So 12:05 rolls around and I phone PC Specialist. I already know the answer but I have to ask just to be sure: Is there any point in me waiting for the rest of the day or will delivery be tomorrow now? The helpful chap I speak to apologises and says yes it will be tomorrow. I should get a text message with a delivery time.

That's my experience. I've come to expect this sort of thing from delivery companies now. The service apart from that has been fine, I appreciate keeping me informed via email and text. Except for that Predict email, which turned out to be incorrect, and really should have been updated when it became obvious to them they wouldn't make delivery today.

Another hassle free delivery from DPD yesterday. Within the hour slot as usual and nothing bad to say about them again. Top stuff.

Well I haven't received my PC yet but I had my first delivery from DPD ever for a monitor and cable, they delivered 5 minutes after the start of their one hour window, great service! hope I get the same for my PC :D

Two items delivered this week:
- First was a stick of RAM that was posted through letterbox as nobody home to sign (that was fine).
- Second delivery today, gave 12:11 to 13:11 as time slot (via text and email) and it arrived at 13:00.

Perfect :)

Hi, my order status just turned to 'Order Dispatched'. Do they send it to me on the day it turned to 'Order Dispatched' or the next day?...

It always goes out on a next-day delivery (as long as you're in the mainland UK), so it should be with you tomorrow.

You should get an email confirming this and the tracking number - though often the tracking number will not work until the parcel is logged in at DPD's Leeds depot later today.

Would like to add another great experience from DPD. Ordered a tablet from Scan, delivery was quick and noticed the tracking feature this time. I was able to track the driver to see where they were and how many deliveries he/she has to go until my package. Also with an estimated time for delivery
