As the title above suggests both the 15.6" and 17.3" Vortex III are in stock and available to order from 8th April.

Both chassis will have a choice of 1.5GB GTX 670M and 2GB GTX 675M.

Whilst our new chassis will support Ivy Bridge processors initially they will be offered with Sandy bridge processors until these are oficially launched by Intel.

Before anybody asks, we do not have any guide prices yet. :)

Will there be any concrete information before the 8th (like finalised specs, what the options will be, *cough* price) or will that all only go up when it can be ordered?

Out of interest... Are there any other changes as a result of a new chassis. Support for a longer lasting battery / better keyboard and touchpad / slot loading optical drive maybe?

I wish I hadn't seen this now :( I'm not sure whether I should cancel my order on the Vortex II and wait for the Vortex III... but then if it's not to my liking or out of my price range I'll be screwed :taz:

This information was gathered from hunting the web (and is purely about the 15" model), mostly it seeemed to be from badly translated leaked stuff from the far east, some or all of it may be badly translated or just plain incorrect. If anyone from PcSpecialist happens to know better and is allowed to comment please feel free to do so!

However the main differences are

e-sata is now also usb3
there is now a display port out in addition to the hdmi + dvi.
Backlit keyboard
support for ivybridge
Now supports GTX 670M / GTX 675M instead of 560M /580M
Seemed to be some suggestion that it might be slightly heavier?

Display, battery, optical drives etc are all identical to the previous model. Chassis looks pretty much identical except the new ports.

If this post in someway against the rules please feel free to delete, but this is all (possibly incorrect) public domain information availble from some extensive googling.

im having the exact same problem, im wanting to get a laptop ordered but waiting for these new releases... which then could be out of my price range etc. which means its a waste of time waiting!

I have a little info...They will both contain backlit keyboards ....hooorrraaaaaayyyyy!!!

RAM: I think it can take up to 32GB! It will also take 1866mhz stuff!

Disclaimer: I could be wrong although I doubt it :)

Also, will PCS be stocking the W110ER chassis from clevo? It looks like an incredible chassis for its size.

I am so confused is this the world beater chassis that can support duel 580's albeit under different names? Sli 675's? Sorry to ask a potentially stupi question. I have been chasing a duel 580m super computer for a while and got told mid April. But it's now arrived early? Any PCS comment to clear that up would be super. Been poised to buy since November : )

No, the chassis that supports 580m sli is the p270wm I think. That is different. These two chassis are the p170EM and the P150EM I think! I have specs linked below! I am a little confused about the RAM, I thought you could get 32GB into these chassis but it looks like it is only going to be 16GB at slower speeds so I am not sure here, not that it really matters anyway! Specs for the 17" version:

Oh, and a quick pic: http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?um=1...3&tbnw=144&start=0&ndsp=31&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0

Disclaimer: Again, this could all be wrong but I think it is correct.

I am all ready to buy but can't decide whether its better to wait or not, my main worry is if the 670M is the lowest spec GPU avaiilable and costs more than the current 560M it'll price it out of my budget, but I'm really interested in some of the rumoured changes :surrender:

I see your problem! I would wait and if the worst comes to the worst, get the skyfire which will be coming out again pretty soon I think.

My issue is that I'll end up not being able to afford the 675m. I'll then have to settle for the 670m which performs worse than the HD 6990m (the gpu I have in my current order).

I get what you mean, The 670 will be more expensive than the 560, I am pretty certain of that, probably slightly more than the 6990 but I am not certain. This is all guessing! You can always wait for the 7xxx series to come out in laptop form, that will be about June though.

So when is the laptop that can support sli coming out? I got told mid April ages ago. Please tell me it's not pushed back till June?? That would be a disaster already been waiting 6 months lol

There have been picture on the net already of the new chassis. The only thing chaning is the keyboard really. The motherboard will support nvidia optimus, 95% gamut screen from what I remember might not be offered anymore, 670m and 675m are 570m and 580m fermi cards respectively, with increased clocks.

So yes, 670m should be quite a bit more expensive than 560m but I'm not sure whether it will pass 6990m in price and whether 6990m will even be offered for this model anymore (please pcspecialist have a sale of the "old" 6990m card upgrades so I can get one for my vortex II :p ). AMD cards will not support switching graphics so you'll need to sacrifice battery life if you get one.

@ Jiyuu : I wouldn't worry about gtx 670M's performance that much. From what I checked there was a roughly 500 points difference between gtx 570m oc'd and 580m oc'd in 3dmark11 performance setting no futuremark's site. (570M was underclocked further to INCREASE the performance difference between it and it's bigger sibling)

and to back myself up:

P150/P170 is the chassis used in vortex series

Yes, the chassis names are P170EM and P150EM. The 6990s are eol (End of line) so they aren't being produced anymore. Therefore, they are going to be going cheap, so they will probably be less than the 670. For the new chassis, they will support the 7xxx series but that comes out mid june I think.
