Video & Photo Editting Spec

Hi there

I would appreciate all thoughts / advice on this spec.
Apart from a bit of CIV or Rome TW, I am not much of a gamer
But I love my video making and photography, therefore I need a pc that can do the following:

1) comfortably work with Photoshop CS5 & Lightroom 3.3 open & working together
2) can comfortably edit 1080p hd video in movies up to 30mins (editted in Vegas Pro or After Effects)

As you can see from the spec, I need to include a monitor and I like the idea of the Touchscreen Iiyama as I hope that using a stylus on the screen will make some of the finer photoshop tasks a lot easier.

I am also keen on a quiet-running pc, without noisy fans.

My budget is £1000 - £1100

I am still pretty clueless about the finer points between ram configurations, graphics cards, PSUs, cooling etc etc. So all advice is very welcome

One last thing is that (ideally) the case needs to slot into a cubbyhole that is 10" wide, 17" high and 19" deep..... so I dont know if this will affect airflow / cooling.

Thanks in advance :)

I would change the GTS450 to a GTX550ti the 4 series are first generation and the 5 series cards being second generation have ironed out some of the tiny problems but thats just me think it costs about £33 more.

I take it the cubbyhole your going to put that in has an open back with a decent gap ? not sure if that case has side fans but if it does they will not take much air in being closed in, if there are no side fans it should not make any difference hope this helps.

Very nice spec you've put together. I'd second Fear's graphics card recommendation and I'll also point out that the ASUS P8P67 Motherboard comes with a Firewire Port as standard so there is no real need for the Firewire Card unless you plan on using more that one device at the same time?

Great, I am going with the GTX550ti

A couple of further questions ....

1) Would it be worth upgrading the CPU from i5-2400 to the i5-2500 ?

2) Would it be worth changing the Ram from 1333MHz to 1600MHz ? Is this likely to improve the video editting performance, and would it be compatible with the CPU ?

I could do this with my budget, but would I notice any difference?

1) i was goin to say that the difference is negligible if the price diff was large but at only £15 its worth it for higher standard clock and will also turbo boost to 3.7Ghz
so yeah worth it in my opinion

2) the improvement in ram wouldnt make a large difference. Id stick with 1333mhz samsung because of that and the fact that its more reliable as well :)
