Working on a budget.

Alright Lads/Lasses

Im putting a PC together on a budget, I would like to see what you think. How will this perform? I'm looking at the new Battlefield 3 as a bench mark.

Cheers in advance.

What is the budget you're working on? the spec looks good so far. If your able to push further on your budget then you should op for the gtx560ti which will give you better performence for the price :)

This includes a much more reliable Corsair PSU, a GTX 560 Ti, wireless internet capability, a 3 year silver warranty and a case with much better cooling than your chosen, along with better looks (i think)

This is slightly over budget but in the long run this will definitely be worth it. If you absolutely can't go over £700, you could knock the PSU down to the unbranded 600W (not recommended), or knock down the GPU to a 6870.

Really appreciate it so far guys.

And just out of interest, would anyone mind explaining the benefits of the AMD PHENOM II X4 965 (3.40GHz/8MB CACHE/AM3) over the AMD PHENOM II X4 970 (3.50GHz/8MB CACHE/AM3) - BLACK EDITION?

Many Thanks

None - the 970 is the highest clocked and best quad core processor from AMD. I simply chose the 965 to stay within reach of the budget.

EDIT just realized what you meant. When I said 'better CPU' I meant better than Wozza365's spec :)

and there you were 1hr ago saying that the Radeon's are crap and inefficient and now you are recommending it :0

i dont care, im getting 2 6970s whether you like it or not, my motherboard apparently has a switch so i can turn off the graphics cards completely and switch to the integrated graphics will probably use this feature a lot and it will balance out better than a nVidia without that motherboard

look at these two, they are exact same price

2GB AMD RADEON HD 6970 - 1536 -880MHz - 2048MB -1.375GHz - DX11 - 250W - 750W
1.25GB GEFORCE GTX 570 - 480 CUDA - 732MHz - 1280MB GDDR5 - 1900MHz DX11 - 225W - 650W

well, two 6970's are on par with two GTX 570's. I have nothing against them, I just find that when on a budget, it's more cost effective to get a good GPU with a lesser PSU requirement, but two 6970's will be awesome :D

I read that many games have problems with crossfire setups? Also read that there is quite often alot of driver issues when crossfiring.

There will always be a few issues, but driver issues are more or less a thing of the past with AMD as they keep them well updated. A few games need seperate patches and stuff to make full use of both GPU's, but this is the same with both SLI and Crossfire.

im sure that newer games will snap up the oppurtunity to load itself onto a second graphics card, and i wont be doing it until my hd6970 starts having trouble playing on high settings
