vnice build, except for the low end HDD with 8mb cache, a 16mb or the 64mb 6gb/s wd1002faex would be nicer ;)

Sleinous

Author Level
yep :) 8mb cache is well brrrrr, considering the high specness of the rest :) lets not cut corners now aye? ;)

so would this do?

750GB SERIAL ATA 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 16MB CACHE (7,200rpm)

and possibly thinking rather than the GTX460, will go with the 1GB ATI RADEON™ HD 5870 PCI EXPRESS - DirectX® 11

Sleinous

Author Level
ye the 5870 will out perform the 460. Ye its not 6gb/s but its better already than that 8mb cache one! :p its the WD1002FAEX one thats 6gb/s

I think i'll stick with the 16 MB Cache, not really wanting to stretch that amount of money into the 6gb/s one. Thanks for the heads up though.

Looks like an all round respectable machine, you wont notice much difference by sticking with the 16mb / 3gbs HDD.

What you deffinatly should do, is go for the "1TB WD CAVIAR GREEN WD10EARS, Sata 3Gn/s, 64MB CACHE" instead of the "750GB SERIAL ATA 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 16MB CACHE (7,200rpm)"

Reason: It's only £3 more, 4x larger cache, and 1TB instead of 750GB lol.

Need I say anymore? :)

Yes, that looks very, very nice! Where did you see the 6GB of Samsung? Couldnt find it in the drop down menus, think its because its Dual-DDR3, so having 6GB isnt too good, but as you are now using a great i7 build, you have support for Tri DDR3, meaning that 6GB memory was now available for you :) (3x2GB)

One last thing, I read about the 1GB ATI RADEON™ HD 5870 PCI EXPRESS - DirectX® 11 and other graphics cards needing you to have a HD monitor? Does this mean it won't work at all without the HD monitor or just wont have HD?
