So overall not best pleased with DPD.

Initially because PC Spec had a part out of stock it missed the fast track deadline, and was sent out a day late - to be delivered on Friday. That's fine, but I was going to be away for a week from Friday, so had to get a friend to house sit, but he could only come round today.

So I phoned up DPD on the Thursday and ask them to reschedule the delivery for today. All fine, delivery scheduled for 2 Oct.

DPD tried to deliver on Friday for some reason anyway. They sent me a text that the delivery had failed so I phoned up again to see why and make sure everything's ok. Apparently some sort of error at the depot, but was assured it was all ok and it would be delivered again for today.

Much to my bemusement, I checked the tracking today and it said "Goods held", which essentially means they aren't going to deliver it.

So now I phone up for a 3rd time, and after being put on hold for nearly 10 minutes, am given various further obscure admin errors to blame for my parcel not coming on time, and am told it will come tomorrow.

I wouldn't be so annoyed by this, except now I have to ask my friend for another personal favour to house sit for 2 days instead of one, as today has been a waste.

Sorry if I've overcomplicated that, but DPD have had some serious "admin errors" that have made getting this delivery a pain. The customer service was all very friendly and apologetic, but there is a definite disconnect between what they say and what happens down at the depots.

Thing is, I'm so on top of waiting for delivery men, that I actually wait a little bit before opening the door, so they don't realise that I was actually waiting and watching for the last three hours for him to arrive. :p

Don't want to look too keen. ;]

I have a habbit of waiting at the door for them and if i see them first i intentionally yank open the door and scream at them as they reach for the bell, it's bloomin hilarious, although tbh one of these days they're going to drop something fragile because of me lol :D

As to DPD themselves? I deal with them miltiple times a day almost every day of the week because of my work and i very rarely have an issue with them, they tend to work in areas so you generally get the same few drivers and they're always pretty friendly and well clued in.

I can assure you that this is not by any means normal with them, they're usually vrery good, as i said in my previous post i deal with dozens of packages through them per week and it is very rare to have an issue, usually most of the issues are where someone has changed somw delivery requirement at the last minute and it hasn't been processed fully in time for the delivery, but this is quite rare.

Ill judge DPD tomorrow based on whether they can find my halls. The only people who seem to be able to are the royal mail.

EDIT: Well DPD have done it, it arrived early I was told as well, so an added bonus. Now time to see if Yodel can make it here today with my other delivery (still in the sorting facility near Cardiff).

Well, DPD Delivered the package on time and in their specified time-frame on the correct date to the correct place that they needed to.

Nothing more to say other than they did what they were supposed to do for me.

Well, I'm currently in the middle of a massive problem with DPD. I ordered a laptop for my partner's Christmas present on the 29th of November. Not a cheap laptop at that. That allowed 16 working days for the laptop to arrive before we head off to relatives. I was very pleased when the laptop was sent out on the 13th of December.

DPD tracked the package all morning on the 16th of December and it came to my delivery slot of 11:52-12:52 and there was no package. After a serious amount of time badgering them (tip: bother them on twitter), I found out that "the driver couldn't find the parcel on his van" (I really had to hold back the sarcasm to not ask them why he didn't look *in* the van). They wouldn't even start an enquiry until PC Specialist contacted them, so I had to call the 0844 number from a mobile (35p a minute - ouch). They say the parcel has been "misplaced" and the enquiry will take up to 5 working days. When I contact DPD they just ask me to contact PC Specialist which I am loathed to do (see 35p a minute - I'm not throwing even more good money after bad). I eventually called the depot and the guy was very nice and even agreed that it's weird that a tracked parcel should vanish, but there was basically nothing he could do. I asked if there is CCTV on the vans and there isn't. I now suspect that it was stolen off the van between 09:31 and my alloted time slot. So I've basically spent hours and a bunch of my own money to find out that it's definitely not coming. Do you think DPD is going to give me any of that money back? I can take a pretty good guess.

Worst of all, I can't even cancel my order until the investigation has been completed, so I can't even use the money to buy something else. This leaves me in the position on Christmas Day of having to say "Yeah, I ordered you something really cool but there was a problem with delivery and it's not here on time" which we all know is code for "I didn't get you anything". If they have to build yet another one, it's going to be a long wait.

I did have one good thought though - what if PCS has the windows registration number? They could contact Microsoft and get them to cancel the license so at least if it's stolen that will be some inconvenience to that inconsiderate thief.

In conclusion, it's going to have to be a pretty special laptop to make me feel even remotely close to satisfied about deciding to use PCS.

Sorry to hear about your problem. It certainly does sound unusual and I hope it all gets sorted quickly.

I had my laptop delivered last week by DPD with no issues. They arrived just at the end of the 2 hour slot. I find if you're given a delivery time for something it ususally arrives at the very start or end for some reason...

pattonesque, I am not sure if you have raised this with PCS yet as I am not in the office. If you are still having issues with DPD send me the order number and I will look into this for you.

Thank you so much, I have raised it with PCS but I haven't had an update for a couple of days and I'd really appreciate somebody putting a little pressure on DPD or at least telling me what's going on. DPD say that they are updating you daily but won't tell me anything. I know there's such a slim chance of it arriving before we leave for relatives on Monday morning but it's worth a try!

DPD...lost it...how the hell do you lose a box that big?!

(Not bashing DPD as I think they are great, but rather amazed stuff like that can go missing...you can't possibly tuck it up under your shirt :) )

Well, it was loaded onto the van at 0931 and by 1152-1252 slot it had been "misplaced". Perhaps the van was left unlocked during another delivery?
