Had a recent issue with DPD at work (not PCS related, but DPD related), one of the tennants ordered some very expensive champagne which was to be delivered by them, they were supposed to deliver on Friday and told to do all they could to get it here on Friday (next day delivery was paid for etc) because it was for an award presentation.

It didn't arrive on Friday.

On Monday i was called down to reception to collect the champagne, only to find that the person "delivering" it was not DPD, it was one of the staff from the building over the road, he had seen the DPD van come into our car park and come over to let him know that we are not open on weekends and he would have to come back.

Apparently the driver had just left it on the door step and was about to drive off so he took it in for us, we were lucky the guy was honest and an all round nice guy as we have half a dozen or so local p***heads who camp out in our carpark drinking when we're closed (police keep moving them on but they keep coming back) and they would have loved that champagne.

My order changed to Dispatched last Friday, this morning I receive confirmation again of this with a tracking number. Would I be right in assuming that the tracking number wont give any information until later this evening as that would be when DPD collect the items for delivery?

DPD delivered like clockwork today, right in the timeslot they promised. Only bit of negative feedback was that the guy dashed off double-quick after I signed, without offering to help getting the two big boxes (massive one + monitor) in and up the flat stairs, which I don't overly blame him for. Though it would have been nice if could have at least minded one of them while I took the first one in so I wasn't leaving it unattended. Small amount of damage to the big box, but doesn't seem to have affected anything, since it was all so well packed, so mostly a minor gripe.

Have you log in into your PCS account? The day you receive it you should get an email and txt from DPD to indicate your allocated time.

There's a chance it was marked as "dispatched" by PCS but didn't actually make the deadline on Friday. You should get a message Monday evening at the latest detailing your consignment number from DPD. There's a pretty cool feature on their (DPDs) website now that allows you to track your package as the courier makes his/her rounds! Not sure how long its been on but it is good to see your delivery getting closer to your address :)

Mirroring what mentioned and yes alot quicker than was previously estimated so looking forward to it cheers steaky

Nice receiving message from PCS getting in touch with me to let me know, that I will get tracking info tomorrow and will be coming Tuesday etc

Thanks Jack Turner getting back to me on Sunday hours much appreciated.

Just a quick question about 3 day fast track option and dpd and if anyone has any experience of this. If the order is dispatched on a thursday and dpd fail to deliver on the friday, would dpd refund me in any way? I've asked a pcs advisor about this and he understandably said that pcs will have honoured their fast track guarantee so the problem would lie with dpd. would dpd compensate me in this situation?

I suspect that DPD would not compensate you since they do not guarantee next day delivery - in most cases it will get to you in that time and they aim to have it to you next day, but I don't believe its actually guaranteed on their part.

The fast track is to do with the building of the system, the delivery is separate. It isn't guaranteed to be next day, unless you pay extra for the postage. Usually DPD do deliver it next day but if you want to be sure then pay a bit extra :)

So if DPD did take an extra day then no refund/compensation would be given by either PCS or DPD.

I didn't think there was an actual 'guaranteed' next day delivery available at all, if there is, I cant find it :).
The only one that specifies a day is the Saturday delivery.

That's what I was trying to say, sorry if I didn't make it clear :)

Thanks all. Don't trust DPD (packages hidden in bin, no cards left, lying drivers, etc) so I'm going for the standard build time

With the PCS items that DPD deliver they have clear instructions only to deliver the item if you're home. If not then they will take it back to the depot and try again, they won't leave it lying around or at a neighbours due to the high value of the item

I have had good and bad experiences with DPD via PC Specialist.

My computer has been on an RMA 6 times in the 2 months, the 5th delivery was a major problem.

The box was broken on the outside with a rip right down the box/unit in addition their was an impact/stress on the cardboard which would indicate mishandling by DPD.

Internally the computer its self had a metal shard protruding from the case, internally the hard drive bay had warped during a heavy impact resulting in broken hard drive bays.

I contacted PCS whom then re-arranged an RMA, fixed the case and replaced the HDs. PCS then sent the computer back using their diamond delivery service (pallet delivery) Hopefully I wont have any future mechanical problems.

High Quality Images and video of the damage was provided to the RMA manager and to PCS via email.

same here 2 rms in two months, when my 2nd rma was dispatched for Saturday delivery they messed up and only when I called and they told me that I will get it Monday, on Monday they said that I will get it on Tuesday. I made a complaint and got it on Monday, but the box was damaged and the whole front panel of my system was broken.

Paul from PCS has been great, he is trying to resolve the issue for me going beyond the call of duty (no pun intended), it really sucks that DPD does not take extra care.

DPD do give a good impression when they get it right, with their e-mail and text updates, tracking system and one hour delivery slot, and personally i've always had good service from them, but i do appreciate it must be very frustrating when things go wrong. However (based on forum feedback and personal experience) I do think things would go wrong a lot more often if PCS still used their previous courier for deliveries. I'm not excusing either of the two experiences above tho' I would have been hopping mad if it had happened to me.
