PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Latest look at the 17.3" Laptop options and some advice:

Hi, thank you for the comprehensive roundup! I read Intel (at least its 11th gen) offers extra features over AMD, such as faster PCIe storage and Thunderbolt 4. My doubts: Is the faster storage available when buying a PCS machine? And is there a way to benefit from the higher speed of...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Looking for best battery life

I agree, but that's the point of this thread... I was asking how to reduce performance when only light work is required, in order to increase battery life.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Looking for best battery life

The Ionico (and other gaming laptops from Dell, Lenovo etc.) has a 91WH battery, so there must be a way to make it last longer than the 5 hours mentioned in this forum.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Looking for best battery life

Then what is causing most gaming laptops' batteries to last only 2-3 hours? You can get 1-2 hours more if you disable the dGPU and undervolt, but it's still far from the 9-12 hours of many ultrabooks. Should one lower the CPU's TDP as well, maybe?

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Looking for best battery life

On a related note... would it be possible to limit the GPU consumption to, say, 50W when the laptop is used for browsing or light activities only? I guess that would positively impact battery life and fan noise? Thanks

Welcome to 2021, or 2020 if you like... pretty much the same, so far. It's how the world goes nowadays.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Real Users' Benchmarks - Rank of PCS Laptops

If your overall power consumption exceeds the wattage of your power brick, aren't there any chances that the battery will be used to provide the additional power required? There was a similar recent issue with the XPS 17, they fixed it eventually but I'm not sure how they did it (...did they cap...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Clevo 17.3" GPU TGP?

Thanks, I was on the verge of buying a Vyper last year, then waited for the new GPU gen and I'm happy I did. Now I really want to buy a new laptop soon, again I was about to pull the trigger on the Ionico, but looking at its recent issues I reckon I'll look at a different vendor (no Clevo or...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Clevo 17.3" GPU TGP?

Hi, would you advise against buying a Ionico then? Any particular "early signs" you're concerned about? Thanks.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Non-RTX graphics based 17" laptop please

Many executives nowadays use Macbooks, also you have software developers who ask for Macbooks to cope well with their workflows. I agree when it comes to Windows laptops they don't usually go over 15" for business, but 16" Macbooks are becoming popular in large multinational companies and the...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Non-RTX graphics based 17" laptop please

I agree to some extent. As a typical employee, you often need to bring your laptop to meeting rooms, where you don't have the ability to plug into an external screen. Also, some Countries have laws that do not allow companies to provide screens smaller than 15" to people who are required to work...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Ionico 17 rtx3070 Review

I didn't notice you had only quoted one of my three questions, my apologies. I had read somewhere here on this forum that there was a plan to provide AMD CPUs later this year, I can't remember where I read that so I figured I'd ask about that too.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Ionico 17 rtx3070 Review

I'm well aware of this, thanks, but in fairness it's not a huge task to unplug the power cable and observe how long the battery lasts? Also, has anyone tried to lower some GPU settings to see if the noise becomes bearable while maintaining decent performance? Thanks again.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Ionico 17 rtx3070 Review

Can anyone confirm if the battery issues seen with the Vyper chassis have been resolved in the Ionico, please? Also, will there be an AMD CPU option for the Ionico later this year? Finally, I remember Bob of all Trade's review of the Vyper-equivalent mentioned it was a very quiet machine once...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST AMD CPU / 3070 laptop, just a dream?

The 4000 series from AMD was not great with games anyway, as shown in some direct comparison videos on youtube. The 8 core Intel 10875H beats the 4800H by AMD by 10-15% FPS, if I recall correctly. Power consumption would probably see AMD on top.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Elimina Series - Panel and Memory Spec

A couple of months ago I mailed them to know more details about a panel, but unfortunately received an answer by (probably) someone who had no clue about monitor specs in general, so they gave me a ridiculous answer, which ultimately put me off from buying altogether. Glad I waited, I might...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Defiance 17

Hi, do you mean that when a generic GPU is specified, we can assume it's a MaxP, whereas it's a MaxQ only when specifically mentioned like in "3060 Max Q"? Thanks!

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST What GPU for gaming?

Unfortunately it's not so straightforward, I'm afraid. I might want to upgrade in two years, for example, so I don't want to waste money now just to get a minimal advantage. I might then give my laptop to someone in my household and buy a new one for me, etc. And, more importantly, I need to...
