Yea you keep the phone at the end of the term, whatever happens. You can then, re-negotiate a new tariff with a new phone or cancel and change provider. You could just keep paying the same and keep the same handset if you wanted (if you don't say anything it'll just roll over to a month-by-month contract) but its always nice to get something new and there's always room to negotiate to get the price down a bit. Its often good to play a few companies off against each other to get the best deal. Cancelling or re-negotiating early will usually incur costs, although some providers let you upgrade to a new handset early if you plan to stay with them.
