Um I agree with Wozza, the two logos in the post are identical, both have .co.uk written after. Im presuming the second was meant to be tha same as in PCS's signature.

Just to gauge opinion, would you prefer us to be branded pcs.co.uk or pcspecialist. A the moment our only intention is to change our domain to pcs.co.uk and keep the name pcspecialist. Do people think we should move lock stock and be called pcs.co.uk.

I think your domain should be pcs however I really think you should be sticking to being called pcspecialist. For new people to the website they need to know what your brand is about, comign to a website called pcs just looks like you sell PCs, to me doesnt sound like anything special. However seeing specialist in the name automatically draws people to the site, thats the only reason I gave the website a look tbh.

I actually prefer the Specialist bit. I, like others refer to you guys as PCS, but to an "outsider"...what the hell is it? :D

Dirty outsider: "PC...ok, I think I've got that; I mean, I did search for computers. But what does the S stand for?"

Bit extreme maybe, but I think PC Specialist rather tells the consumer what they are getting when they come here...a specialist in PCs (as opposed to a...non-specialist? Maybe they'd also think you sold Macs! *shudder*)

My thrupence anyway :)

You should definitely keep the name pcspecialist.
I think it gives people a better impression & more confidence in deciding to purchase.

Glad we all agree. However a point was raised today that made us think for a moment:

When you think of "Ford" you go to "ford.co.uk"
When you think of "Apple" you go to "apple.com"
When you think of "Amazon" you go to "amazon.com"

etc...

With our current website when you think of "PC Specialist", you go to pcspecialist.co.uk. With the new website you will think of "PC Specialist" but have to go to pcs.co.uk. Most customers that know us have always referred to us as "PCS" but for new customers they will have to visit an abbreviated URL to find "PC Specialist".

I think pcs.co.uk should redirect to pcspecialist.co.uk personally

It does at the moment, but long term, and for TV/radio avertising pcs.co.uk is easier. Plus, when you're in the pub having a pint pcs.co.uk rolls off the tongue, where as pcspecialist.co.uk is harder to remember. If "PC Specialist" continues to grow, if we're lucky enough maybe one day we'll be referred to as PCS more commonly. Many brands have shrunk their name as they became bigger:

Hewlett Packard -> HP
British Petroleum -> BP
General Motors -> GM

Ok, these are multi-national conglomerates and we're not, but we aim high. :)

Anyone else got any feedback?

While I agree with this, I think rebranding to PCS is a bad idea, I think you will actually end up losing potential customers. If you were called Personal Computer Specialists then I agree rebranding to PCSpecialist would be fine and would not lose custome, however I think one of the main factors for having so many customers is havign the word specialist in the brand. Reducing this to just PCS is good for current customers who need a quick link to the website, but as branding is a really bad idea. People need to know that you are specialists, thats kinda the point really.

By this did you mean in "specialist" the domain name, or "specialist" in the brand name? We're always going to be called PC Specialist, but perhaps now with a shorter domain name.

I think your brand name needs to match your domain name. HP is really the brand name, Hewlet Packard is just what theyre called. With you guys I dont think the domain (and hence associated brand) PCS would do you any good. I honestly think that should literally just be left as an alternate quick access domain for current customers.
