Automated Email build dates

Problem still not fixed? Got a new email today with the build date pushed forward further to the 25th. Wondering if I'm actually just really unlucky :V
5th working day pre-prod.

I'm on my 6th day Pre-Production. It's to be expected according to the website. Other members have said after this ends the rest of the process goes extremely quick. From what it seems the turn around judging by other members posts in this thread is anything between 10 and 14 days with the odd one going over. Still not great in my eyes but what are you going to do, just a matter of waiting as annoying as it is.

Ye I'm happy if the lead times are accurate. It's simply that the 25th is a wee bit over that :)

Well, my machine had been burned in over the weekend and there were zero problems, yet it's still languishing at PC Specialist, apparently for no good reason.

I hope it's dispatched tomorrow :(

7th working day here as well after ordering on 31st December.

On the order email it said 8 to 10 working days for delivery. Since then the anticipated build date is 26th which is 17 working days. I have contacted PC Specialist and they have told me they 'hope to start build this Friday' which is 10 working days for build and certainly not the 10 working days for delivery.

According to the website if you were to order today it would take 6 to 8 working days for build. I think PC Specialist need to sort out there automated anticipated dates software. If I had known it were to be this far out I would have ordered a better specification laptop 'off the shelf' for £70 more and got delivery within two working days.

Likewise I would've went elsewhere that potentially could've got all the parts together within a few days or so, not almost 8 in my case (8 days so far JUST to gather parts? Really?). That doesn't include the build time, testing and then shipping. I have noticed their "7 day dispatch" went from almost 30% all the way down to 8.7%. If the Pre-Production status doesn't change in a day or two an email will be in order, as much as I don't want to. Assuming it doesn't move from Pre-Production this week it'll be week 3 next week and on the 22nd 3 weeks since the order was placed. Hopeful this won't be the case judging by the dispatch/build times of other customers, though.

I wouldn't hold your breath I ordered on 29th of December 10th working day still in pre production i was told in live chat build would start Monday or Tuesday morning at latest and get to me by Friday that's looking less and less likely I am severely unimpressed by PCS and definitely wish I had gone to another company its beyond a joke.

Edit Scrap that got through on phone turns out I have been very unlucky and should get it within a week so hopefully this is the case.

I ordered a basic Optimus VII but with no HDD and a Kingston 120Gb SSD.

Unfortunately I work four weeks away and am home for four weeks. I ordered it whilst I was away so that I would have time to get all my software installed before going away again. As it stands I will be lucky to get it before I leave!

I know I could have paid for fast track but when the order was placed the web site was showing 8 to 10 days for build. I would cancel but the T&C say that you do not get a refund for 14 days which would still not give me enough time to get a replacement. In the meantime PC Specialist have been getting the interest on all of our moneys and we have got nothing to show for it.

Ordered on the 29th?! I'll admit this doesn't give me much confidence but as you say your situation could've been just bad luck. Keep us informed, Erik. Interesting to see when yours turns up.

DJFC: Could you post when exactly you placed your order and what day you're on as far as Pre-Production goes?

Just had a quick chat with them, said it'll hopefully be entering the building stage early next week. Ordered on the 4th, currently 6th working day. Not too far off the average of 10, once it enters building it doesn't take very long.

They did set a very high standard for me with my previous laptop I guess, 1 working day from order to dispatch.

Interesting. Custom PC build was it? Ordered mine on the 1st and still in Pre-Production. Something just doesn't add up unless yours wasn't a total custom job.

Guess I was just lucky. It was an Optimus II, quite a while ago now.
Anyways, will update if it goes into building next week.

The latest build estimate has now slipped back four days since the last one. It is now forecast to start building on 28th which is 19 working days since the order was placed. No where near what was said on the order confirmation.

'We are now processing your order and we currently estimate the DELIVERY lead time to be 5 to 7 working days for PC orders and 8 to 10 working days for laptop orders'

When I spoke to them on Tuesday 12th they said it should be started on Friday. We shall see what happens but I have a feeling that I will end up having to cancel the order.

I wouldn't take notice of the estimated times via email if that's what you're referring to. This topic is due to be deleted once the email update issues are fixed. At least I -hope- it's incorrect, 19 days is quite shocking. Their 14 day turnaround has now dropped from 99.8% to 63.89% with their 7 day turnaround going from around 8% up to 18.06%. Emailed them this morning as I'll be on day 10 tomorrow with no sign of it even going into the 1 to 3 day build, then a day for testing and a day for QC. Not looking good at all although I suppose all of those days combined would take me roughly up to two weeks so only 4 days over predicted assuming they manage to stay within their estimates.

Quick update for you lads and ladies, status has just this second been updated to "Your order has now been built and is awaiting testing and configuration." Ordered on the 1st of January. I will say it seemed a coincidence that I sent an email this morning asking about the progress and suddenly the status has been updated. Either way progress is being made, job well done.

That's good news. Fingers crossed that mine will change status soon. What specification did you order?
