If i got 60hrs of content out of a single player game i would be happy. Sounds like your disappointed MeveM. How many hours did you spend on Morrowind/Oblivion on a single character build?

Can't remember, I didn't like Oblivion. Morrowind I played for ages, but then again I didn't play as much when I played Morrowind as I was playing Ice hockey 6 days a week when I was that age.

I've said it previously, don't get me wrong, I've really enjoyed Skyrim, I just personally expected more, that's all.

I guess it depends on how much you are "into" the game and how much of a completionist you are. Generally games like this GTA, Arkham City etc, have around 3 levels of gameplay

1. Main campaign
2. Side missions
3. Collectable items/minor random missions

Youve obviously done the first 2, so the proposed several hundred hour gameplay would rest in the third level. So its a question of how much more you want to play the game once youve exhausted the main bulk of the game.
On top of that as you mentioned before, you could probably class yourself as a hardcore gamer that knows your way around games like this instinctively. Im guessing many players would not be as far into the game as you would be, say after 5hrs into it. So by your standards you may have gone through most of the game content, but youve probably gone through faster than the average person would.

As ive not really played an ES game before, my guess is i would probably take around 100hrs to get to where you are at 60hrs :)

I really should have pre-ordered like I'd planned. I've been told that my wonderful family have got me Skyrim as a present for christmas........
I think this is possibly technically torture!
Should I just buy it, keep quiet and feign excitement when I unwrap it? :D

Without trying to sound big headed, I concider myself a top end gamer, in many type of games. This is as much a curse as a blessing as you can see. But I can't fault a game for catering more towards the majority, I just had big expectations for Skyrim :p. I think I'll stick to playing MMO's and games like Skyrim/BF3 etc as a side game when I occasionally get fed up with SWTOR. Thank God for MMO's xD

Okay so starting to get into Skyrim but after seeing a few things on how to lvl up certain skills was wondering if it was worth it.

There are many videos and guides telling you how you can lvl smithing or speech etc. Obviously when you lvl these skills your overall lvl increases as well. So wondering is it worth it?
I mean you can have 100 smithing 100 lockpicking etc and leave your combat skills relatively low. Wouldnt that mean i would get my ass handed to me as the enemy would have scaled up according to my overall lvl even though my combat stats stay the same?

Just wondering how people who have played the game alot longer think of this, if they did lvl anything up to 100 and if it made a difference in overall gameplay.

I focus my "Level Up" points in either my Destruction tree or One Handed Tree. Everything else I just let happen as I play.

I pick every lock I see to up that.
Light armour goes up as I get bashed about :)
Speech goes up by talking to people etc.
Crafting stuff goes up by...crafting :D

Not sure why anyone'd put points in the support trees, unless they have a spare knocking about and dont want to save it for later.

Things like Pickpocket etc ofc have a role to play, so that can help (maybe LP I suppose), but it seems if you can stand up in combat (i.e. take the hits or deal them out) just seems you'd gimp yourself so far that you'd be stuck :)

BUT

I am sure someone can come in and argue it the other way and prove that wrong...but only with empirical evidence! :D

I distribute my skill points into Light Armour, Destruction and One-Handed. Then I have 3 support categories that I may put the odd point or two in to help me out - Enchantment, Smithing and Restoration. These will be the only skills I get perks for. It seems to be working ok so far.

Okay. I just read (could be on here) that people have got their smithing up to 100 and made themselves some daedric armour. If they did, they would have seriously gimped their lvls.

In anycase, ive decided Destruction is crap, so gonna start again with a Conjuration/One handed battlemage...

I know LOL

Turns out it looks better than it is. Blasting guys constantly and doing little damage. By that time theyve already closed the distance and kicking my ass everywhere resulting in a Benny Hill type runaround.

I'm a level 12 Battlemage specialising in one handed and destruction and its going fine so far...:)

Guys,

Am I right in thinking Dragon Armour is heavy? (So I can sell all the bones and skin for some cash to do up my house hehe!)

Also I have found a new Fire Shout but how do I unlock it so I can start using it?

EDIT - Just found out how to unlock Shouts with Dragon Souls...dont know how I missed that!!

Destruction is awesome, so is conjuration. Im full mage specialising in illusion destruction and conjuration, no armour, weapons or anything. Once you get past the first few spells you start getting awesome, especially when you use some scrolls too or just learn some more advanced spells.

As mentioned before i use firebolt and ive even got the "does extra damage" perk as well as the duel casting perk. Wolves i can 1-hit-kill, Bandits 2-hit kill. But generally anything more powerful its a complete waste of time. Especially since im wearing robes (so no armour).

When i come across someone more powerful than a bandit its usually in a tight space so ive hit them several times and theyre still coming. By this time theyre right on top of me and going the mage route i dont have much physical defense.

So going to restart with full conjuration mage. Using bound weapon and a shield. Destruction is completely overated.

Im the same as you, I just have robes, 75% faster magic regen. You need to use the right spells against the right enemies, also dont just use one spell. Thats the beauty of mage for me is that theres such a variety, different enemies are more susceptible to different spells, combinations of spells are what win fights though (on harder enemies).

I prefer a challenge in a fight than knowing i can walk in and two hit kill a giant with a dagger. Kinda defeats the point of the game for me and it would become very boring.

Okay i admit perhaps im not using Destruction properly. But the way i play (which isnt very good) i need some close quarters protection and the best thing for me is to have a sword and shield.

U shud try using the shouts :), invincibility can get you out of ome tight spots, slowing down time is awesome, even the force push one at full force with all 3 words is brilliant for knockin back a group of undead or a giant that keeps on attacking.
